Invisible
Hidden in plain sight
trying to camouflage
Blend in with my surroundings
And it works too well.
My ability to adapt to my environment
To notice subtle changes and nuances
that will help me hide
Leaves me invisible.
They don’t care what I have to say
Because they don’t see me.
All my life I am told to stand out
Instead of fit in
Think outside of the box
Instead of being complacent with my own corner inside of it
But standing out
Means putting myself out there
Taking the first step even though I can’t see the next ones
and even though I know I should
It’s easier to camouflage
To hide.
Because when you’re invisible
You don’t get hurt.
