We talk about empathy, but it's usually for another human. So I want you to think from the perspective of an animal.
Winner will be chosen by the post with the most likes. There is a 500-word limit because I would love to read everyone's work. So put on your thinking hats and get to work!

The slaughterhouse
A few moments of silence. Then the wailing resumes. A trail of blood slithers in from under the door. In the corridor we await our turn. Some are already lifeless, petrified by the realisation of what lies ahead. Others frantically search for a way out. There is none.
