Stones Throw
I stared across the lake at dusk
Hoping answers would emerge from its depths
A still lake was all I found
Furious, I threw rocks
To break the lakes silence
My efforts met with a muffled sound
I threw more and more
A storm of stone
To hear her reply
Fatigued from frustration
Respite was needed
From a plan gone awry
Perhaps one day I’ll hear her answer
Or, at least,
A ripple will reach me
