dancing with crystal tears
An advocate of affection
The ambivalent drops
Rain down on us like
Artificial tears, which
Seems to me like a show
Of audacious empathy from the heavens
Aqueous hands caress flesh and film
Staining and cleansing at the same time
Pouring down in a biblical deluge, yet
Soft and fragile, seeking the warmth of hands and leaves
The summer sky is a full sea of sapphires
Much opposed to the spring scene,
A pallid and pellucid setting for the angels,
The fragile clouds that dance fleetingly in the sky
With patterns of fish scales and cotton candy
It breaks the glassy fingers of winter’s frosty fist, one by one
And lets forth the beauty of true sunshine, at last
Accompanied by droplets from those marshmallow clouds,
The rain pours down in all its ferocity and kindness
Sweeping over the land in a powerful storm of white and grey
Now bringing with it hints of a brighter blue
The sky, formerly pristine and clear,
Has now been swept into a tantrum,
Shaking puffy grey fists at the darkening sky
And willing angry tears to come forth
Splattering all over the earth and the fields
Not yielding, not stopping
Until the sun peeks out and whispers,
"Hello there, don't cry, please..."
The water stops flowing and the dam is closed.
And the periwinkle sky returns, cleanly washed by a shower of crystalline pearls.
