I Do
It never occurred to me that I would ever be standing here, dressed up, a single tear running down my cheek, biting my lip to keep more from falling.
A shy but excited smile on my lips as the preist spoke between us. He takes our hands, joining them together, our fingers lacing together like they had so many times before. He held me just as tight and with just as much meaning as when he asked me to be with him and just as tight when he asked me to be with him forever.
The words he said, those two words that to anyone else, in any other situation are practically meaningless, never meant more to me.
“I do.”
I was asked the same question he was, and I had to force myself to get the words out.
“I do.”
The ring was blessed then placed on my hand, another tear falling. My breath hitched at the cold metal was placed on my finger. His ring was blessed, and I put it on his finger with shaky hands.
With the Priest's speech over, my lover took no time pulling me to him and placing his lips on mine, tears running down his cheeks.
The circlet that was on my head, slipped down my forehead, making us both laugh.
I cupped his cheeks in my hands, wiping his tears with my thumbs.
"I fullfilled my promise." He said quietly, smiling.
"You did." I nodded.
"I love you."
"I love you too. More than anything."
