Billy’s Honeymoon Dismay

My boss, Shelly was a cold and mean boss. She was unfair in how she treated us when we took time off. She would even call us in to work if she knew we were on vacation.

“Billy, I want you to come to work today to do an important report,” said Shelly to Billy over the phone.

“But Shelly, I’m in Hawaii with my wife, can’t I do the report here and fax it to you?” said Billy.

“No, it requires you to be here,” said Shelly.

“Alright, I’ll see when I can come back and I’ll get back to you and I’ll call you and will let you know,” said Billy ticked off in his mind.

Billy found a plane he could board by 6 a.m. that morning. He called Shelly and let her know he’d be there as soon as he could to do the report. Shelly told him he had to finish doing the report even if he had to stay at the office late because it was due the next day.

“Yes, I understand,” said Billy.

“Thank you. I expect the report to be exceptional,” said Shelly.

Billy and his wife got on the plane. His wife, Jill wasn’t happy about having to leave their two week honeymoon vacation in Hawaii for a report. She talked to Billy about it.

“Why do you care so much about doing this report for her? You’re always doing extra work and she never even gives you a bonus for Christmas either,” said Jill who was also upset.

“I care because I need the job,” said Billy.

“Well what are we going to do for our vacation? It was suppose to be our honeymoon for peat sake!” said Jill very upset.

“I’ll see if I can get the extra day back and we’ll just go back,” said Billy upset too.

“She’s unfair. She probably will say no to the extra day and will call on you to do another report again,” said Jill agitatedly.

“I’ll talk to her and will see what I can arrange,” said Billy.

After Billy arrived to work that same night, he was also expected to file whatever was in his inbox. It was already 10 p.m. and he was becoming tired. She didn’t even thank him for coming in to do the report now and then asked him to stay while she read over the report.

“There’s a few errors in the writing. I expect you to correct them before you go,”. said Shelly handing Billy back the report.

“Yes Shelly, I’ll fix them right away,” said Billy.

It’s midnight. Billy fixed the errors and got his filing done. He was unhappy he had to spend his time off like this.

“Ms. Shelly, can I please have a word with you?” asked Billy.

“Yes, what is it Billy?” asked Shelly.

“Can I have this day back for our vacation? It’s our honeymoon,” said Billy worriedly.

“No. I’ll just put it in a paycheck. You may go now,” said Shelly coldly.

“Thank you, good night,” said Billy disappointedly.

That same morning, Jill spoke to Billy about what his boss was doing to him. She was very upset. She tried talking him into leaving that job.

“Why not see if you can find a job here? Let your two week notice be our honeymoon vacation?” said Jill slyly.

“This sounds like a great idea. I’ll look around on Monday. You can come with me,” said Billy.

Billy gave his two week notice. He found another office job. He wound up working at a hospital in the administration department. Jill was overjoyed that he no longer had to have a boss over telling him what to do beyond normal means. Both of them lived happily in Hawaii and they finally got to enjoy their honeymoon in peace.
