he will make You think it is You
Your cries for more
seem to ring on deaf ears
There's never enough time
for Your needs to be met
And with every sunrise
And every sunset
he will make You think it is You.
And as Your heart beats with uncertainty,
it covers the muffled but constant note
of his fear
A note You'll never hear
And when You sit silently long enough
to recognize
he will look You dead in Your eyes and
he will make You think it is You
And as he begins to look more grandiose
Assuming such a confident pose
It is not because he has grown taller
You have only made Yourself smaller
And when the day comes
when You've come back to Your size
he will ignite with such a feigned surprise
And you will realize
that he made You think it was You.
