LA nightmares
what is it about fame that draws the eye?
what is it that takes over on that silent street
made of dreams only the wealthy get to keep
while everyone else is just scraping by?
and what of you and i?
this street does not feel wide enough for two
walks of life to stride side by side, no.
there is only so much pavement to ride
before you reach that boulevard of lies.
a monument to mankind's eminent downfall.
oh my love, i am too sick of this wall
built to divide the famous and wise.
i have walked this road a long while
and will walk it evermore.
i will walk until i reach that golden shore,
and then i will dip my head in with a smile.
my journey is worthwhile but you will never see,
though my cause is written in red on the streets.
i will die to see them cleaned,
even if it takes you away from me.
it would be worth it, and i'm sorry.
