Challenge of the Week CCV
You have an hour to live: GO. Fiction or non-fiction, poetry or Prose.
ghosts
An hour’s all I’ve left.
Feels like eternity when you know death’s coming.
They’re here early in the shadows around my room.
Closing in.
Their faces form out of the shadows.
Faces I thought I’d snuffed out forever.
I believe in ghosts now, only it’s too late.
Their smiles gleam at me
to let me know they await my arrival
on the other side of the gallows.
I’ll drop through the floor, my neck in a rope.
Where they’ll embrace me like hungry lovers
and never let go.
An hour’s all I’ve left.
Too long, when eternity’s coming.
