Loud Silence
Nina nervously glances around.
"Zack? I really don't like this house."
A bat suddenly appears from a dark corner and gets stuck in Nina's hair.
"AHHHH! GET IT OUT! GET IT OUT!"
"Would you calm down?" Zack gently removes the creature.
"This place does not exactly encourage calm behavior!"
"We are going to get you over your fear of this house whether you like it or not."
"Don't like it, definitely don't like not. Could we leave? I will give that book that you have always wanted. Zack? Are you even listening to me?"
"Yes, I am, but no matter what you promise me, we are going to get you over your fear."
"Maybe I don't want to get over this fear? Wouldn't life be boring if no one had any fears?"
Zack just snorts and continues leading Nina deeper and deeper into the crumbling ruins. As they enter the hall, a few mice come scampering from the other side.
"Something must be over there." Zack comments with a bit of fear in his voice.
"Shall we go now?!"
"No. Maybe we just scared them."
"THEY RAN OUR WAY! THERE IS NO WAY THAT WE SCARED THEM!"
"Would you remain calm? Ther...What was that?"
"I don't know, but I am scared."
"You have been scared since we ca...There it is again. Let's go check it out."
"NO! I want to go home!" Nina is close to tears.
The sound of slow and heavy footsteps is very clear this time around. Nina jumps in behind Zack and holds onto him tightly.
"I...can't...breath!" Zack gasps for breath.
Nina loosens her grip, but does not let go. Zack wedges her away from him and holds her at a distance.
"Cut it out! You are going to scare both of us with your behavior." He reprimands the girl.
A door at the end of the hallway slams shut and the teenagers' eyes grow wide.
"L...let's g...go." Nina suggests.
"Yeah, let's go."
The two turn around just as the hallway becomes even more dark. A light is turned on and off continuously. Bloodcurdling screams erupt from the closest door. Footsteps can be heard as they walk on creaking steps. A maniacal laughter echoes through the house after a brief silence. A door opens and shuts with a bang. More footsteps. More screams. More laughing. The teenagers jump around and run as fast as they can out of the house to never return again. Little did they know, that they were not the only living people in that "haunted" house.
