City’s Nature.
Rain's muted patter on roof and gutter,
and soft pouring through the drains.
Uncacophonied music to mind's ears,
when listened to,
one must in hearing strain.
Gentle drops their falling from the sky,
harmlessly they light on passerby,
not causing yet some discomfort's pain.
Makes city's shining sparkling night lights,
on streets of shimmering darkened stain.
The air is cool though blanketing
to keep my body's warmth within.
While adding to eve's pleasantness, during,
this silently steady slight wetting din.
I sit here drinking now my beer,
enjoying what by city's nature was proffered.
Only my quiet present presence here,
all I felt that I could this instant offer.
