Twisting Metaphors
4)“Tip of the iceburg”
The expedition had reached its destination. The archor had been casted out, steadying the boat in palce as the crew made their way on to the iceburg. Five people had made this trip, not fully beleiving what they expecting, but still willing to find out.
A team of five traveling to discover the hidden. There had long been rumors of this place, though whispers were not enough evidence for an expedition. Yet the whispers were too great to ignor, for they stood at the shore of the iceburg.
“Are you sure that we are in the right place?” Samuel ask. This was his first expedition with the crew, and did not see the appeal of the ice as the end of their search.
“Of course.” Mazie was the one to organize the expedition. The information might not have been the most realible, but she had done her research, and she was not one to make a mistake. At least she hoped her calulations were correct.
Samuel looked around, through remained unimpressed at the ice. He maintained the mindset that everyone had at the start of their jounreys. Treasure with no work, if only expeditions could be like that, then they might not be in a dying profession.
The others had begun to search the iceburg. According to the legend, there was a path to the deeper levels. As Mazie joined the search, she hoped that she had led them to the right block of ice.
They searched every spot on the ice two times, making sure to account for the rays of the sun, and the shadows that were hiding secrets.
After their second ciculation of the iceburg, Mazie had begun to second guess her calculations. If the legends were true they should have discovered the path already, for they were four experts and Samuel, this venture should not have been difficult.
It was Samuel that noticed the crack first. Calling the others over, they had confirmed this was the dorrway they had been searching for. The path had frozen over, though they had come prepared, so they made quick work of the ice.
The five headed through the path, heading deeper and deeper into the icebrug. Traveling into the Earth, where sunlight was a distance memory. The group moved in silence, not wishing to tempt the strength of the ice.
The jounrey had come to the end, when the group reached a wall of ice blocking their way. Under closer inspection, it appeared to be a door. Symbols craved on the ice in front of them, confirmed the truth to the legends. The search had vield results. Whatever remained beyond that door, it was another success for the advertures searching for their dreams.
They opened the door, and set their sights on wonders that even the legend could not convey.
