My Self Published Struggle

Drowned out in a sea of self published terminology,

Outspoken by those that market themselves better,

Overwhelmed by a nine to five,

Underwhelmed by sales,

Too afraid to promote myself- so not to come across as pushy,

My novel suffering for my own misjudgements,

Years of "I can't wait to read your book when you publish it" dead and forgotten,

Tucked away on a high and dusty shelf,

Pushed back and to the side.

My problems are miniscule to the planet on fucking fire,

To the blistery winter winds and storms,

To the global pandemic and all of its havoc,

But my own wasted potential is more alarming to me than anything else.
