We are all racists
I’m a racist, we all are. Racism is embedded in our veins. We are already screwed and we have to acknowledge it. But we can still help.
It was late, my mother and I were lost. We ended up in a black neighborhood. I remember my mother's instructions, pay attention, tell me where the GPS tells me to go. Then, without notice she got anxo¿ious, she told me to look back, there was a man walking nearus. She told me to take precautions. We finally found our way and we were completely safe.
That day I learned that black people are dangerous.
But I now know that it’s not like that, that it’s a misconception, a misconception that everyone believes. Because we are taught that. There’s no real proof that a person is born evil or dangerous from how they look.
If you go to a kindergarten there’s no discrimination, kids just want to play and be friends. So what happens from kindergarten to highschool? High School, or even before, when kids are already being discriminated against, groups of asians, black, latins, whites. Somehow we all end up with labels, but you can’t label a person, for we are all unique.
Even between black people there’s racism, things like well at least i’m not that black are not uncommon. Between latins they tend to hate the others from their country of precedence. Asians are no exception, when you get someone’s country of origin wrong they get offended as if they were better than the others. It’s as if we were taught to hate each other for no reason.
