void
what are you, you ask the void
and the void answers
i am built broken promises, and emptiness
i feast upon nightmares and dead gods
i am the darkness that acts as a shield
and i am the kindness so many lost
who are you, the void asks
you say you don’t know
the void respond that it’s okay to not know
because no one has ever known who they are
being is not limited to labels and lines
being is not static, not permanent
you aren’t meant to be here
no one should be this close to the void
if you reach out, take another single step
you’d be gone, disappearing into nothing
that doesn’t scare you, this is your garden
your eden in the hollow world you know
the void tells you it’s dangerous for you
but yet you always find your way back
you don’t believe the void, it wouldn’t hurt you
it couldn’t hurt you, not more than others had
the void knows this, and knows you’re right
as it warns you off, to err on the side of safety
the void knows things, things it shouldn’t
it knows your nightmares that keep coming
changing and shifting, oozing blood and tears
it knows your broken promises, for no one at all
as you wrote and erased again and again
but it knows who you are, you are you. no more
it’s calming, the way the void expects nothing
nothing other than the nature of inevitability
it knows you are here, and knows you won’t be
not forever, that not how things go, even here
the void trusts you as much as you trust it
trusts that you will one day die as all before
so you stare unafraid into the voids gaze
and it stares just as unafraid back at you
you think you love the void in some way
the void thinks it trusts you in some way
so you reach out to touch the void
and the void reaches back to touch you
