Autumn
How do you know the season?
Have you looked upon the sky?
Surging molten currents soaring,
Silk ribbons are in flight.
Morning glow of rainbow mist,
Seeping summer, fleeting light.
How do you know the season?
Have you listened to the sound?
Gliding feathered fowls calling,
Brittle skin against the breeze.
Soft hush of lullaby’s breath,
Fluttering sonata, rasping trees.
How do you know the season?
Have you smelt along the ground?
Rising nutty spice curing,
Damp husk smoked and sweet.
Steaming vape of soil’s sugar,
Souring berries, rotting sheet.
How do you know the season?
Have you felt inside the moment?
Hugging weightless wind flowing,
The crisp crunch of transient youth.
Peaceful pause of year’s demise,
Ceaseless ring, nature’s truth.
