Gay marriage effects (positive or negative) on society?

How do you feel the legalization of gay marriage will effect society? COMMENT

Earlier I helped my girlfriend on her homework which was to find six articles and summarize them. Throughout our search we've read and discussed this debate from both perspectives. Of what we read: from the positive perspective homosexual marriage would strengthen heterosexual marriage, lessen homophobia, make being publicly/openly gay easier, and etc to that effect. From the negative standpoint gay marriage will not give children the father-mother household it's been said children need, it's not religiously accepted, laws will need to be changed, and etc to that effect. In my opinion, gay marriage wouldn't effect anyone not involved in the actual act of being gay and getting legally married (heterosexual marriages don't effect gays except doing something they can't). What are your views and beliefs on this topic?
