Jay run through the dimly lit corridors and passageways, quite unaware of where he was going when he suddenly bumped into something hard and stumbled back.
'Ethan..', he whispered, staring into the deep green eyes of the taller boy.
'What are you doing here at this hour?' Ethan said.
'I - I - ' he thought about confessing what he saw but he was certain no one would believe him, especially not Ethan.
'You'd better head back to our common room before a professor spots you wandering around the corridors.'
'What about you?' he said defiantly.
'What about me?'
Jay realized his heart was beating faster against his chest and tried to catch his breath. 'Never mind,' he said and meant to walk past Ethan when he felt him gently grabbing his arm. He turned around. Ethan gazed at him, his gaze softening. 'Listen, what happened today at the great hall, I didn't mean to-'
'I know,' Jay said. 'It doesn't matter.' It did.
They awkwardly stared at each other for what seemed like hours when they heard something pacing towards them from the other side of the corridor.
