To be Free of Light
In silence, my heart can cry the loudest,
In solitude, I can be the freest,
In the presence of stars, I can be true,
In the absence of men, I can kiss you.
I love to be away from human sight,
But sometimes, the owl’s hoots reminded me
That I cannot stay shrouded endlessly,
And that I must see the coming twilight.
If only the Sun would burn all my woes,
And not unveil all human wickedness,
I might not declare him one of my foes,
Nor would I write insults of his brightness.
The dark brings solace to the troubled soul,
But beware; the dark might leave a hole.
