roundabout reactions

lately I have been surrounded by far too much loss

but all of it has been second hand

I am more or less removed from the sense of sorrow that those around me have been submerged in

I am thankful for this

I have been watching people fall apart for quite a while now

I have done my best to hold on to them while pulling myself back together in the process

my life has not been easy but I have no new sorrows and for this I am grateful

because I'm not quite sure how much more I could handle
