The Sand in the Distance
I step over this hilltop
My body begs me to stop
But I refuse to drop
Until I see the sand in the distance.
Beyond luscious forests and sapphire streams
Rests the eye; Reality is not as it seems
Beyond the illusion, beams
The sand in the distance.
There is no rock, there is no sea
There is no hope, there is only
The sand in the distance.
All my life, I saw a colorful black
I thought I sought what I had always lacked
But, truly, I seek reality back;
The sand in the distance.
The world is broken - an unholy school
Taking the Earth seriously, you must be a fool
This illusion has one purpose: to be used as a tool
This is why I seek the sand in the distance.
All my life, I've been blinded
To this ephemeral oasis, I've been binded
And, until now, I've never minded
Not knowing of the sand in the distance.
With my body burning
And my stomach churning
I stand atop the hilltop, my mind turning
As I gaze upon the sand in the distance.
