A New Dawn, A New Day, A New Life
Snow White had finally had enough of the dwarfs,
and she knew that the time had now come.
There was more to her than just keeping their house,
and dammit, she wanted to have a little fun!
She needed to dance, and to sing, and to drink,
away from the kitchen, and far from the sink.
. . . . . She needed to dance!
. . . . . She needed to dance,
despite what those seven little ingrates might think.
She took off her apron then ironed her dress
and gazed around at the nice tidy room.
They’d soon mess it up; she was thoroughly convinced
they’d never master the use of a broom!
She left them that day; she left them for good,
to seek out her dreams far beyond the dark woods.
. . . . . She left them that day,
. . . . . she left them that day,
and found more than she ever thought she would.
She longed for adventure, so she took a big risk,
but the prince that she met was a beast!
She found herself dancing in the wrong fairy tale,
but she didn’t really mind in the least.
She twirled and smiled; and though it wasn't planned,
the flames of true love deep within him she fanned.
. . . . . She twirled and smiled,
. . . . . she twirled and smiled,
and hoped dear sweet Belle would understand.

This neoclassical form is known as a TRIJAN REFRAIN. It is a great structure for telling stories, and though I have played a bit loose with the form's strict requirements, the result is still a lot of fun.
