A Quiet Account of Cowardice
I sat there, in the silence
A paper peered at me
All I needed, was to finish
The last sentence.
I didn't.
The next morning, they found me.
An unfinished sentence.
That's all that was said.
What of the silence?
He still hung around.
He was not afraid.
I wish I were the silence
But I could never be him
Because, I already was
The silence that was never broken
The silence that was never heard
I was that silence
And that's all they knew.
I, too, 'hung' around
I think
I should've finished my sentence.
