Prose Challenge of the Week #25: Write a piece about cowardice. Minimum 10 words - Maximum 250 words. It’s the way her auburn hair falls lightly across her face, the way her fingers push it delicately back behind her ear. Book spread in front of her, her face studious yet relaxed, concentrating on the words in front of her. A daily ritual of staring at her from a distance, from the table across the way. It’s time for his date with table 23, he tells himself each day at two. For hours, he imagines eating dinner with table 23, watching movies with table 23, marrying table 23, his future with table 23. Today is the day, he declares in his mind, standing before he reconsiders. With confidence he walks forward...determined...past her...
“I’ll take the regular,” he tells the woman behind the counter.
