Chronicles of The Haventara: Book One: Corrupt
“...You’re alive.” Hel fell silent, tears in his eyes.
In an ugly sob, Hel fell to the floor. His chest heaved. The boy held his hand up as if to say stop to us all.
“I’ve told myself for so long that you were alive, but I eventually accepted you as dead after everyone around told me you were gone…” Hel paused. “You’re alive… and I get why you’re on that side now.” He cried.
Mirabelle looked up at Hel, her eyes watering.
“Oh Helen, what have they done to you?” Mirabelle murmured to Hel.
“Or is it Hel now? Sparta told me they were new recruits, but I never thought it would be you.” She sobbed.
The woman dropped to her knees and crawled closer to Hel.
“I never thought I’d ever see you again.” She stated.
“Mira, I joined the USI to find you…” Hel started, “And now that I have, I won’t rest until I get to watch that division burn to the ground.” Hel snarled with watery eyes.
Mirabelle chuckled.
“You still have fire in you, huh?” She added.
“Um, care to catch me up with what’s going on?” Angel asked.
I looked to Hel expectantly, waiting for an answer.
“No change of plans, just talking to my sister.” Hel smiled sadly.
“Sister?” Angel mumbled.
I approached forward, headed to Mirabelle. The woman tensed, expecting an attack. I reached my hand out and smiled.
“Hello, Mirabelle. I am Ashley Smithson. Hel has told me all about you.” I introduce myself.
Mirabelle hesitantly met my hand with her own shaking it.
“I presume you have been taking care of Hel?” She inquired.
I nodded, “Something like that.” I chuckled.
Mirabelle smiled back at me, releasing my hand.
“So, we have agents of the USI, that are against the USI… Not just Mason…” Mirabelle noted, looking over to Mason.
Mason looked into Sparta’s yellow eyes, looking hurt and determined.
“So this has been your plan all along?” I ask Mason.
The woman glances at me and gives the faintest smile, gracing her pretty face. The smile though short-lived was incredibly mischievous as if she had been playing this “game” from the get-go.
“I may hate my sister, but I’m not a monster. Even some dim-wit would be able to see that the program is corrupt and inhumane. I’m doing what I feel is right.” Mason remarked.
“What about Magnus? Is he in on this?” Kath questions.
Both Mirabelle and Sparta visibly tense at the mention of his name, looking blankly ahead.
“Magnus has no place here, he’s lost that right.” Sparta said, lowly.
The air got thick, and silence dense in the atmosphere. Mirabelle cleared her throat, uncomfortable with the topic, but ready to explain.
“Six years ago, Magnus and I were a thing… He got me pregnant and left me with no means of taking care of myself. When my pregnancy started to mutate my genes and give me powers, guess what he did? He sent agent after agent to catch me and test me and my baby. I was developing powers because my baby was a supernatural, and he tried to turn me and her into lab rats.” She trailed off.
“He doesn’t care about the wellbeing of supernaturals, he cares about the bounty he gets when he catches them.” Sparta added.
“He didn’t even care that the child was his, he was going to sacrifice his own daughter.” Mirabelle cried.

My project was created off an idea I had five years ago. Of course, it's changed a bit since then, but the characters remain the same. This book is a good fit for your company because it reflects on real human emotions and experiences set in a unrealistic world.
