Adventurous Spirit 27
Georgios and Ari left very early I the morning. Leaving a note for Delitha.
Georgios explained they had a short time to work with the men who would
be tending to the renovation. These men were very good workers and would
be left on their own after they left. Georgios and Ari wanted to be sure
there were no shortcuts to save money. Ari and Georgios was going to
make sure all electric and plumbing would be up to code for safety.
The men were well paid for their labors with a bonus for good workmanship.
Before left for the beach the mail flew in and the box with the sand pads
had arrived. Delitha and Essie followed instructions and assembled them for
Philomena. This would be a great surprise indeed. A light breakfast was
prepared and a large pan of cinnamon buns Delitha removed from the freezer
was placed in a cardboard box to carry to the beach. “I made many sweets
and other baking items at home. They are frozen and as I need them I
bring them out to thaw and sometimes heat a bit. I do not want to spend
my time to visit my friends and their children at the oven. They always
have a big pot with them on the beach for cooking seafood soup. Some
will bring a grill for fresh fish. We want to enjoy our time together.”
Essie was quiet and Maria asked why so serious. Essie said
Good times with friends are memories you'll never forget. The best
memories you'll ever have are those enjoyable moments with friends.
Please don't take friends for granted.
Maria and Delitha backed away out of Essie's hearing range where
Maria said: “She is so right for my brother. I hope so much they
will plan a life together.” Delitha shook her head a yes.
Both ladies went off into the pantry collecting chocolate bars.
Essie called out asking where they had gone to.
“We're almost ready to go and I forgot the chocolate bars for
the kids.” answered Delitha.
“May I have one for the little boy I taught how to fly a kite?
He is new here and has no friends yet.”
“Yes you may and why don't we get him and his Mama over
closer to the beach to meet the other ladies and children”
came from Delitha.
Philomena was there and the first to meet them. “Look at me! I am actually wearing ladies trousers.
They are so much more practical for me to wear on the beach.
I thank you dear Essie from the bottom of my heart. I can actually
get around better at home. I am working in my garden alone. I feel so alive.”
Delitha told her to wait and see the gift Ari and Essie had for her today.
“Ari had it flown in on the mail plane then boated over to our yacht.
They brought out the sand pads and after trying them out Philomena,
Delitha,Maria and Essie all jumped with joy and started dancing
in a circle singing.
Piraeus children
from my window, I send off
one, two and three and four kisses
that reach the harbour
(as though) one and two and three and four birds
how I wished I had
one and two and three and four children
once they would all grow up
to become "dashing" lads, for Piraeus's sake
no matter how I search, I cannot find another harbour
to make me "wild" over, as much as the Piraeus
where, as soon as night falls, (it) pours out "songs" for me
and its "pen-sketches" changes, gets filled up with children
as soon as I walk out my door
there's no one I would not "love"
and as I go to sleep at night
I know that, I know that I will be dreaming of him (/her)
gems, on the neck I set
and a bead (as a) charm
for at night I await,
as I go out to the harbour
a certain "stranger" to find
no matter how I search .
The other ladies came over to see what the festivities were.
Woo hoo howled Maria and Delitha. The men had come over to the beach
for hot drinks and breakfast. “Ari, Ari, come see. The sand pads
are working well called Maria.Everyone was elated to see their friend
walking upright in the sand. Ari called Essie to him whispered something.
He called to Maria o save him four helpings of breakfast and they would be right back.
As soon as they got around a bid sand drift Ari kissed Essie
she responded back.
“I want you to come with me and introduce that little boy's Mama
and hime to me so they will not be so shy. Her husband works for me.
They will be living in the house of our father soon. It is almost ready
to mve into. I would like you to come with her up to the living space.
I want you to help her pick out colors and furniture so they will be comfortable.
Maria said for you to do that and she will get the other ladies here to
welcome the family. I hear she is a very shy woman and the little boy
does need friendship with the other children here.” Will you do that?
“You know I will. I even have a chocolate bar for him right now.”
