To see behind the screen
What is your religion. I highly doubt it's god ,not in this world we live in today. Is it the almighty dollar. Did it whisper to you of all the pleasantries it could bring. Willing to decrease your moral worth for an increase in net worth. Money that you believe can buy you anything. Except an escape from death, though the casket will shine brilliant. The money may allow to run a bit longer, a bit farther, but your end is the same.
Willing to poke holes in your soul if it means a new area code. Nicer toys to play with and a nicer car to cry in. When you feel all alone, because in your degradation, you forgot who you were. Now everyone's a fraud for not knowing the real you. But where is the real you. The "real" you that you want us to see behind the theatrics. You claim it's not the one on the screen that we stream daily it seems. But the you on the screen has blended with your life without you noticing. To us you are nothing more than that maniac, that harlot, that comedian, that awkward silence. What more would you have me think of you. When I have only seen that side. But at least the money is nice, right? Oh, but you want respect as well. Want me to respect you, when I haven't seen respect for yourself. Maybe speak to the money, it could be your confidant. Pray to it, that things may become better. Another car may help. Or maybe the money just isn't enough, no matter how much.
