The Old Hag
"Trick or treat," The three kids said, on the doorstep of her house.
Not a soul on the street would visit this hag, no one, and no mouse.
"Come in" she beckoned with a voice so grim, her finger outstretched.
The two looked at the oldest who muttered, "Meh, what the heck."
They followed her inside and down the deep dark hall.
The kids stuck close together until one tripped on a ball.
"Mind the cat toys," she said leading them within.
Her face was terribly dark, aside from her evil grin.
"Are you getting us candy?" A child stuttered and choked.
She laughed, "I thought I'd play a trick." The old hag joked.
The kids swallowed hard, taking in their frightening surroundings.
Knock. Knock. Went to the door, as the kid's parents came pounding.
"Heh." Sighed the old hag, "Maybe next time."
She gave each kid a lolly, that was colored in lime.
She ushered them out and smiled at the folks.
Who said, "Is this lady still up to her jokes?"
The parents all waved, and then they all walked away.
"Maybe next Halloween, I can get them to stay."
