Do Not Speak
I spent a whole afternoon
Roaming about the library
Just to catch a glimpse
Of your beautiful face engrossed in some book.
Oh, how I wanted to tell you how I feel
Right there and then
Yet I waited.
I followed you around the next day too
Hoping this time you'd notice me
How I'd introduce myself
Coyly pass off a compliment or two
About your smile.
But alas, you seemed to like the novel more than reality
And so I waited.
It was raining the first time we met
You hadn't come
Disappointed, I went inside
To pass the time and read what you were reading
But as I sat down, you came too
And sat beside me; your eyes sparkling
Reminiscing
As they noticed the book in my hands.
And though the 'Do Not Speak' sign hung prominently behind you
Our shared silence was certainly louder than any words.
