Act One: Scene One:
(We are introduced to a bustling area. The Æther Dock: A bustling, steampunk harbour where airships dominate the skies and the unknown awaits at every corner)
(The protagonist and Lord Preen step onto the stage, wearing futuristic attire that still retains elements of their original wardrobe)
Protagonist: (Looking around at the unfamiliar place) This place... it is so different.
Lord Preen: (Emphasizing) Æther has changed everything.
Protagonist: (Confused) Æther?
Lord Preen: Æther, dear friend, a marvel of our age! A force harnessed from the celestial heavens, powering our contraptions with the might of suspensium and the very essence of the skies.
Protagonist: (Intrigued) Adapetus Mechanical, the brilliant inventor from the past. How wondrous it would be for him to witness these advancements.
Lord Preen: Truly, it is none other than Adapetus Æther, the pupil of Adapetus Mechanical, who delves into this new technology.
Protagonist: (surprised) Adapetus Æther? Another Adapetus? This is most unexpected!
Lord Preen: Aye, the Adapetus Æther is nothing like his predecessor, the Mechanical. He’s plagued by paranoia and nervously tinkers with this new Æther technology.
(Protagonist and Lord Preen walk past the imposing Æther Machine, her wings beginning to glow and hum as they near it)
Protagonist: (Surprised) My, these wings do shine and hum most peculiarly.
Lord Preen: (Observant) Indeed, these wings seem to have a curious connection to Æther-powered devices. Perhaps we should find the Adapetus Æther for an explanation.
Lord Preen: Hark, the pursuit of another Adapetus, my dear! Were I bestowed a farthing for each such endeavour, I would rival the entire fortune of Narciss.
Protagonist: (Deadpan) More Adepti, more enigma. It’s as if our lives are scenes in a play.
Lord Preen: (with a wry smirk) Doth it not seen our lives are but scripted for dramatic theatrics?
(The lights fade to nothing)
(End of Scene One)
Act One: Scene Two:
(As our characters step into the workshop, they find an array of unfinished contraptions scattered around, bearing witness to the ceaseless creativity and innovation that takes place within these walls)
Protagonist: (curious) What is this curious contraption? Thy wonder if-...
(She reaches out to touch it)
Unknown: (franticly) Stop! Do not touch anything! Thou have no idea what that machine may do!
Lord Preen: Who art thou?
Unknown: Behold! Ye hast intruded upon the domain of...well, it is I, the Adapetus Æther! Master of, uh, Æther-fuelled wonders and...conductor of the Etheric symphony, yes!
Lord Preen: Thou remind me of the Adapetus Mechanical, who dabbled in quite a similar field. A predecessor of thou, perhaps?
Adapetus Æther: Indeed...I was his student, or rather, a bumbling novice under his wing. Do thou perchance know what became of him?
Protagonist: (Sadly remembering what happened) It was the End of All who claimed him, a malevolent figure whose name is a grim testament to the tragic end he met.
Lord Preen: (remembering the humour of AMs ’ last moments) Indeed, he met his end in a manner that even the End of All couldn’t comprehend. Laughing his way into the abyss, he was.
Adapetus Æther: (Nervously) A tragic end, indeed. But, um, why have you ventured into my humble workshop? Is there something amiss, or.... or perhaps you have well, been followed?
Protagonist: In pursuit of your esteemed self, the renowned Adapetus Æther, we arrived at this destination. A peculiar event unfolded when our wings seemed to react to an Æther Machine on these premises.
Adapetus Æther: Fascinating. Perhaps we could replicate it once more. Can thou make it happen again?
(She approaches an active machine, and the wings once again start to hum and glow)
Adepetus Æther: By the Heavens! This is most intriguing! What manner of enchantment lies within those wings?
(The door bursts open, and a female sky pirate enters, she is visibly fuming)
Angry Person: Blast it all, Adapetus! The Dragoons sabotaged the test again. They despise our Æther technology, and I fear they shalt not stop until they have seen it all reduced to scrap!
Adapetus Æther: Allow me to introduce thee to a fellow companion of the skies. This fiery soul sails the skies by the name of Captain Selene Star-Caster. A skilled pioneer of aeronautics.
Protagonist: Well met, Captain.
(Lord Preen looks thoughtful)
Lord Preen: Why is the Order of The Dragoon so vehemently opposes to Æther technology, may I inquire?
Adepetus Æther: The Order of the Dragoon opposes Æther technology on grounds of ethics, fearing the disruptive change it brings.
Protagonist: I heard Ser Draconis had his doubts about the Order before he was slain.
Captain Star-Caster: Aye, he did. The Order, they are a secretive lot, quite aggressive to anything that has the potential to change the balance of power. Ser Draconis was a voice of reason among them.
Lord Preen: Pray tell, whom leads their misguided cause? Is it one grand puppeteer pulling the strings or a cabal of instigators?
Adepetus Æther: Archmage Drakonvyr. He guides their actions, a formidable figure in their ranks. They rally under his banner.”
(The sky pirate has noticed Preens Accent)
Captain Star-Caster: Ah, I`d recognise that Narcissian lilt anywhere. Thou art from the city of Narciss, art thou not?
Lord Preen: Ah, Narciss, where the sun seldom graces the land, and my dear father, Earl Bigot, is determined to ensure his legacy.
(The Adepetus Æther`s demeanour shifts to unease)
Adepetus Æther: Ru...ru...rumours have reached t-thy ears....of grotesque fleshy b-biomechanical contraptions and the h-h-hapless s-s-souls....
Lord Preen: Fleshy biomechanical machines? By the heavens, that sounds horrible. The thought of such horrors in my beloved Narciss does trouble me.
Protagonist: Indeed, Lord Preen, Narciss seems to be in turmoil. But we shalt fret not over rumours with no evidence.
(The lights dim to black)
End of scene two
Act One: Scene three
(We are now next to a battered Æther craft in its secure dock, the scars of a recent attack run deep. Torn panels and fractured suspension lines hang like wounded limbs, while arcane energy conduits flicker erratically)
(Upon sighting the craft the Adepetus Æther exclaims in shock)
Adepetus Æther: By the heavens! The extent of this devastation....it doth boggle the mind!
Lord Preen: Adepetus, this battered craft in front of us reminds me of an expedition into the Misty Woods to collect Suspendium.
Adapetus Æther: Ah, a tale I’ve heard whispers of, but never had the fortune to witness. Pray, do share the details.
(The protagonist shifts uneasily at the subject)
Lord Preen: (Dryly) Were mine am that day successful, I would bear a trophy but lack a narrative of redemption.
Adepetus Æther: Pardon?
Lord Preen: (Dryly, with an enigmatic grin) In that cursed thicket, where shadows whispered secrets, the quiver of my purpose held a lingering arrow of profound ambivalence, yet some tales remain better left in the dark.
(The Adapetus Æther walks toward the damaged Æther craft, carefully inspecting its intricate mechanisms with a sense of fascination)
(The lights focus on him)
(There is a moment of silence)
Protagonist: (Deadpan) He almost shot me.
Captain Star-Caster: (In disbelief) Thou did what?
Lord Preen: Thy intentions in the Misty Woods were deplorable, and I am profoundly sorry for that.
Protagonist: Your humility is a rare trait, my lord, and it speaks of your character’s strength.
(The Adapetus has finished inspecting the craft, he walks over to Captain Star-Caster and stands beside her)
Adepetus Æther: I fear, dear Captain, that the vessel’s plight is dire; it is damaged beyond redemption. We must regrettably part ways with it.
Adepetus Æther: (With enthusiasm) Ah, this vessel! It is reminiscent of the early experiments with Suspensium propulsion, much like the advancements we have seen in the last five years....(He pauses) Well I suppose you art unaware of the recent changes in our world?
Protagonist: (Nods in agreement) Indeed, we have been out of touch for quite a while. What has happened in the last five years?
Lord Preen: (Dryly) It seems, my dear, that we have been inhabiting a most splendid and oversized boulder, blissfully oblivious to the cultural and political shifts of the past five years.
Adapetus Æther: (Excited) In essence, our current era of Etheric progress is a thrilling continuation of the ground-breaking Suspendium research my master embarked upon.
Adepetus Æther: (Enthusiastic) The essence of the skies, my dear friends, empowers Æther in a most exhilarating manner! The possibilities are boundless – we hath mastered flight, harnessed the cosmos for energy, and discovered technologies that, in days of yore, were deemed utterly unimaginable!
Lord Preen: (Sarcastically) Suspensium Cannons- where they finally figured out how to shoot something other than themselves.
(The protagonist and the sky pirate desperately fight to appear unamused)
Captain Star-Caster: (With a serious tone) Forgive my abruptness, but on the past five years, the world hath transformed dramatically. Warfare hath undergone a significant shift, with advances in weaponry, particularly Æther powered armaments, airship fleet combat hath become commonplace.
(Lord Preen and the protagonist do not respond, waiting for her to continue)
Captain Star-Caster: The advances in weaponry have given rise to more accurate Suspendium cannons, while new Suspendium lasers cut through the skies with precision. In our sky-faring world, we have seen the emergence of agile Strikers, designed for rapid attacks, and the innovative Corsairs – specialised vessels for stealth and reconnaissance. And there is talk of Dreadnoughts, akin to mobile fortresses, under construction to rule the upper atmosphere. These developments have transformed our approach to warfare in the skies.
Lord Preen: (Smirking) Dreadnoughts sound like the physical embodiment of the Narciss ego – what they might build when they are composting for something.
Adapetus Æther: (Nervously) In the past, the Order of the Dragoon was known as noble guardians of the skies, but recently, they have taken a darker path.
(There is a pause, the Adapetus recalls something he heard)
Adepetus Æther: I have heard a rumour that there’s an airship launch happening soon. We should make our way there.
(The protagonists, and Lord Preen exit the stage) (The Adapetus Æther and Captain Star-Caster remove the craft from the stage and exit themselves)
(The lights dim to nothing)
End of Scene Three
Scene Four:
(We can now see the stage transformed into an industrial dockyard. The audience can witness the small, sleek form of the ÆSF Worcestershire, a striker airship, positioned at the centre of the stage. Captain Selene Star-Caster, Lord Preen, the Protagonist, and the Adepetus Æther enter from the right, awestruck by the sight.)
Protagonist: (Squinting at the nameplate) What doth that inscription read? Wuh... Worchester... uh...
Adepetus Æther: (struggling) Wuss... worce...
Lord Preen: (with confidence) ’Tis Worcestershire, my dear comrades. Named after the heart of Narciss, my homeland.
Protagonist: (beside herself with enthusiasm) Beside a genuine airship, aye! It's not as grand as I did imagine, yet it doth seem a formidable contraption.
(The Adepetus Æther seems impressed as well)
(Stage direction: the stage should be bathed in soft light)
Adepetus Æther: (Unusually confident) Verily, this striker is a marvel of Etheric artifice. It doth showcase the progress we have made.
(The captain of the ship emerges, unseen to the group, he wears a blue flight suit with gold bars)
Captain of ÆSF Worcestershire: Salutations, one and all. I extend my regrets; the ship's launch doth remain in the stage of preparation. We art most honoured by your presence.
(The protagonist visibly starts at the unseen speakers statement)
Protagonist: (Startled) Oh my! Thou did startle us, sir. Who art thou?
Captain: (Struggling with mispronunciation) I am the... captain of this magnificent vessel, the ÆSF Wooster-sheer. These Narcissian designers do have a peculiar sense of humour, I must say.
Lord Preen: (Offended) It’s pronounced ”Woo-ster-sheer” sir. (Lamenting) Seems no one can ever get it right.
(Captain Star-Caster begins to ramble, evidently excited)
Captain Star-Caster: In the vast azure stage of the heavens, ærial combat unfolds like a dramatic performance, where every manoeuvre, every cannon’s fire, and every choice can be the climax or downfall of our fate. The presence of advanced Suspendium lasers and the power of Æther engines adds complexity to this aerial ballet, where our ships become the leading actors.
ÆSF Captain: (Shocked by her knowledge) Art thou a captain too?
Captain Star-Caster: (choosing her words carefully) Of a sort.
(The protagonist, whom had been listening intently, seems to recall something, she stares at the nameplate of the striker for a moment)
The protagonist: (Confused) ÆSF... What doth it stand for?
ÆSF Captain: It stands for-
Adepetus Æther: Æther Strike Force!
ÆSF Captain: Art thou the Adepetus that invented Æther? I simply must shake thine hand!
(The Adapetus is humbled but shakes the hand offered)
Lord Preen: (Curious) Pray, what is this Æther Strike Force that you speak of?
(Captain Star-Caster and the ÆSF Captain sigh loudly)
Captain Star-Caster: (Explaining) The ÆSF, or Æther Strike Force, is an elite sub-branch of the ÆDF, our Æther Defence Fleet. Its main mission is to guarantee air superiority throughout the realm and guard against carrier-class threats. The ÆSF's fighters include experimental strikers known as Vanguards, which often lead squadrons, ensuring our aerial dominance.
Lord Preen: (With a smirk) Well, looks like Narciss isn't the only one with a few tricks up their sleeves, hmm?
Protagonist: (Playfully) The one thing Narciss excels at is giving their ships the most preposterous names, almost like a disguise in itself!
ÆSF Captain: Indeed, speaking of disguises, we work closely with the ÆRB (Æther Recon Branch), which utilizes advanced Corsairs. There have been rumours circulating about Wraiths—these experimental Corsairs are said to be equipped with Æther Disruptors, but that remains to be confirmed.
Adepetus Æther: (Terrified) Rumoured Wraiths with Æther Disruptors? The mere thought of our own technology potentially being turned against us is truly... disconcerting.
(The Adepetus Æther walks around to the back of the striker, he begins examining the Æther engines)
Lord Preen: (Chuckles) Adepetus Æther, I must say, your examination of these Æther engines is quite impressive. Could there be any dissonance in your etheric orchestra?
Adepetus Æther: (Grave) My lord, the mere thought of the Dragoons obtaining an Æther disruptor sends shivers down my spine. The havoc they could wreak with such technology is beyond imagination.
(Lord Preen hesitates for a moment)
Lord Preen: (Addressing the Adepetus, and both captains) the shadows, there are whispers of Dreadnoughts—gigantic, dreadful aerial leviathans of unknown lineage. They say their armament can lay waste to armadas, their armor shields them against mortal blows, and their diabolical weaponry possesses the potential to unravel the very fabric of Æther itself. Should these behemoths come into existence, the skies shall turn into a dominion of unrelenting terror.
Protagonist: Dreadnoughts, oh my! Just the name alone gives me chills. Do they serve tea on these warships?
(A loud bugle call rips through the relative quiet, the lights dim)
Captain Star-Caster: (Frantic) What’s happening? Brace yourselves!
(A strange humming sound begins, the characters are in full panic now)
Protagonist: (Panicked) This can’t be good!
(A strange sound precedes a bright flash of blue from the side of the stage)
(The ÆSF Worcestershire is engulfed in a shimmering effect, achieved by lighting, before the stage is engulfed in fog)
(Amidst the fog, figures dressed in ominous dragoon uniforms emerge)
Adepetus Æther: (Anxious) Dragoons! We need to get out of here!
(The Dragoons move swiftly towards the characters on the stage)
Lord Preen: (Frightened) We’re in for it now! I forgot my bow!
(The Dragoons grab the characters and violently drag them offstage one by one, the Adapetus Æther is the last one)
(An older man holding a Staff of some kind in one hand, a bugle in the other, turns to the audience and sounds a call, clearly in victory before the dragoons depart the stage)
(The fog remains as the stage returns to darkness)
End of scene four
Scene Five:
(As the curtains rise of Scene Five, the audience is met with a familiar sight: the Adapetus Æther`s workshop. However It is evident that turmoil has visited the once orderly place. Broken contraptions and shattered glass containers are everywhere the eye can see, bearing witness to recent violence)
(The Adapetus Æther is a dishevelled figure, bearing unmistakable signs of torment. His once-nervous demeanour has transformed into a powerful paranoia. Bruises and scars mar his face, serving as cruel of the pain he has endured. His eyes dart around the room, perpetually wary, as though expecting danger from every darkened corner. The others stand near him)
(Stage directions: The stage should be dimly lit, apart from the spotlight on the characters, a faint haze – created with dry ice – should be present)
Captain Star-Caster: (Softly, turning to the Adapetus) Your suffering pains me.
(The inventor does not respond)
Protagonist (heartfelt): Tell us what happened, dear Adapetus.
Adapetus Æther: (with a voice wrought with trauma): They... they ripped me from your midst, plucked me away from our sanctum -my beloved workshop - on the very day of that heinous ambush. Dragoon-mage Drakonvyr, driven by insatiable thirst for the blackest depths of Æther's forbidden knowledge, inflicted upon me a torment most foul. I resisted, steadfast in safeguarding our secrets, yet their sadistic revelry knew no bounds. The anguish I endured... it was akin to being consumed by an unrelenting abyss, like plunging into the very heart of the Ætheric void.
(A new character enters the stage, he wears red and white robes and is holding a Staff, a guardian accompanies him holding a white and gold weapon)
(The character takes the weapon from the guardian, who exits the stage)
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: (In a powerful voice) Hark, esteemed guests, I am Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr, leader of the venerable Order of the Dragoon, a sentinel of justice in these turbulent times. Our paths converge as a testament to concealed truths and heinous acts intermingled. (His gaze falls upon Lord Preen) Lord Preen, your familial lineage casts its own ominous spectre. But in this intricate masquerade of revelation and secrecy, who indeed bears the burden of transgression?
(He pauses, taking in the hate on the faces of the characters)
Dragoon-mage Drakonvyr: (with conflicted determination): Yes, I sanctioned the interrogation, a grim necessity, a means to ensure our realm’s survival. Sacrifices must be made to safeguard our people from the unpredictable forces of Æther.
Captain Star-Caster: (inquisitive): Survival, thou say? What dost thou mean, exactly?
(Stage directions, bluish lighting, the spotlight should move between the Adapetus Æther and Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr depending on who is talking)
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: (with fervour and bitterness) Behold, ætheric storms, an unpredictable menace that so frequently descends upon our realm, their ferocity unrivalled. Their genesis? The unrestrained deployment of Æther technology, which we have repeatedly warned against. A confluence of forces brought upon by those who dared to ignore our cautionary words.
(He motions to the Adapetus Æther)
Lord Preen (inquiring): Is it true, Adapetus Æther, that you ignored the warnings? I’ve heard whispers of these dreaded ætheric storms. The consequences of such recklessness... are they known to thee?
Adapetus Æther: (nervous) Lord Preen, thou hast heard of the destructive storms, but thou should also acknowledge the brilliance of Æther. The energy we have harnessed revolutionizes our technology, giving rise to powerful engines that have changed the course of our world. The storm's calamity is but a shadow when compared to the brilliance of progress fuelled by Æther's boundless power. Sacrifices, even in the form of tempestuous chaos, are sometimes a necessary step toward the enlightenment of our realm.
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: (with conviction) Adapetus, there exists the undeniable truth that Æther, when not restrained, leads to Æther sickness – a blight on the minds and bodies of our people. Countless have fallen victim to this insidious affliction, their lives forever marred by physical and mental torment. It is a consequence we cannot ignore, a testament to the moral darkness enveloping the heart of Æther.
Protagonist: (Confused) Wait, did thou kidnap us to have an ethical debate?
Adapetus Æther (defensively): While it is a tragic reality that Æther sickness plagues some, it is not the sole facet of Æthers’ legacy. The strides made in medicine, enabled by Æther's power, offer the potential to address maladies, including the very Æther sickness thou speaks of. It is true that we do not possess a definitive cure for Æther sickness yet, but we remain committed to harnessing the full potential of Æther for the betterment of our people.
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: (firmly) Consider, honourable guests, the perilous dance of resource conflict, the very cradle of bloodshed and turmoil. As Æther technology proliferates, so too doth the demand for its precious resources. This insatiable hunger for Æther's gifts has ignited resource wars, kindling geopolitical tensions that threaten to engulf nations in an all-consuming blaze.
Adapetus Æther: (with a measured tone) The breath-taking advancements in transportation, courtesy of Æther technology, art a testament to human ingenuity. Airships and vehicles propelled by the boundless energy of Æther have ushered in an era of unparalleled mobility. The world, once vast and insurmountable, now lies within our grasp. Travel is transformed, connections strengthened, and distances diminished. To shun this wondrous progress is to deny the very heartbeat of human innovation.
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr (in a solemn tone): As we plunge deeper into the embrace of Æther, we chain ourselves to its fickle essence. Placing unwavering faith in its mechanisms is a perilous dalliance, for we bind our fate to an erratic force, one that may forsake us in our direst hour, as we grow ever more reliant upon it.
(The protagonist, Lord Preen, and Captain Star-Caster all remain silent, now unsure of their side)
Adapetus Æther (with enthusiasm): Yet in the heart of this marvellous force, we find a dependable companion, the very lifeblood of progress. As we lean on Æther, we forge our path to a future where barriers dissolve, unifying distant souls and civilizations. Communication, no longer hindered by vast distances, binds humanity in a collective symphony of knowledge, hope, and understanding.
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: Æther, a double-edged sword that we wield with reckless abandon, not only tempts our desires but also erects formidable walls of defence. Yes, it may protect us from the unknown perils that lurk, but in doing so, it shackles our vulnerability to the very contraptions we create. We dwell in a fortress of our own making, ignorant to the weakening foundation beneath, lulled into a false sense of security.
Adapetus Æther: (desperate) In an ever-shifting world where the skies are filled with Æther-powered marvels, we mustn’t forget the vital role Æther technology plays in bolstering our defensive capabilities. With Æther-based weaponry, we have the means to protect our realm against the unseen threats that lurk beyond the clouds, ensuring our dominion over the heavens and securing the future of our civilization. The advancements in Æther-based weapons have given us the power to fend off adversaries and preserve the peace that we hold dear.
(The protagonist clears her throat loudly, surprising the two men)
Protagonist: (Sternly) Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr, and Adepetus Æther, I must concede the merit of your arguments. The Order of the Dragoon has sounded a dire refrain of caution, and the perilous potential of Æther’s destruction is an undeniable truth. Yet to resort to violence, Dragoon-Mage, and to avert our gaze from these forewarnings, Adepetus, are treacherous paths upon which we ought to step with caution.
Lord Preen: Where did the ætheric disruptor come from?
(He motions to the object that the Dragoon-Mage is holding)
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: (Revealing) Lord Preen, the Ætheric disruptor was obtained from Earl Bigot of Narciss, in a transaction that left a sour taste in our mouths. His dealings are not to be trusted. (Expressing disapproval) The Order has deemed the activities of the Adapetus in Narciss sacrilegious, particularly their biological research, which treads on the sacred boundaries of nature. (He continues) We anticipate the arrival of an ambassador, a crucial figure who shall soon grace our gathering. This visitor’s purpose is shrouded in uncertainty, yet I sense that their presence signifies a potential shift in the balance of power.
Lord Preen: (With concern) My main worry about the Narcissian Ambassador lies in the fact that he might recognize me. Abandoning my father's orders painted a target on my back, the repercussions of my defiance loom like a shadow over me.
Adapetus Æther: (With a grave tone) Lord Preen, the path you tread, and the Narcissian Ambassador's presence could spell unforeseen consequences. We must proceed with great caution.
(They exit the workshop, led by Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr)
(The lights dim to darkness)
end of Scene Five
Scene Six:
(Lord Preen, the Protagonist, The Adapetus Æther, and Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr are now in a grand hall within the ÆDF Headquarters, adorned with banners and emblems. It features elegant wooden furniture and tall windows)
(A man enters, his attire adorned in lavish white and gold, exuding an aura of pride and grandeur)
(Stage directions: bright lighting for the entire scene in order to attempt to create a warm “Golden Hour” effect)
Baron Vanity: (Announcing with posh accent) Greetings to thee, fine company, for I am Baron Vanity, emissary of Narciss, the land of splendour and opulence. (He bows extravagantly) 'Tis with great pleasure I stand before you, as befitting the grandeur of our realm.
(None of the characters respond)
Baron Vanity: My distinguished guests, I bring tidings from the heart of Narciss, the grandest region in all of creation. Earl Bigot, the illustrious ruler of our cherished realm, hath extended an invitation, requesting your presence in the thriving city of Worcestershire. The purpose, thou may ask? To partake in a remarkable gathering where ambitious endeavours and radiant ideas shall converge. (He gestures dramatically) It is an honour, a privilege, to serve as the harbinger of such grand opportunity.
Lord Preen: (Awkwardly) Ah, yes, I am... um, Preen, just a humble... err, nobleman of modest means.
Baron Vanity: (With a raised eyebrow) Preen? Ah, but you cannot be mistaken for any other! The Earl's own son, if I am not in error. We are honoured to host such esteemed company.
Adapetus Æther: Well met, ambassador. The rumours of the advancements that the Narcissian Fleet have made fill me with pride.
(The ambassador smiles broadly, clearly pleased by the flattery)
Baron Vanity: Ah, the advancements of Narciss, indeed! The wind carries whispers of our innovations far and wide. One mustn’t reveal all the cards, though; a touch of mystery adds a certain air of delight, does it not?
(The protagonist decides to join the conversation)
Protagonist: (Shyly) Thy hath come across many grand-sounding titles among the folk of Narciss. Could thou, in all your wisdom, shed some light on the importance of these titles and the deeds that have earned them such respect?
(Baron Vanity sighs to himself audibly before explaining)
Baron Vanity: You see, my dear, Narcissian society is quite the intricate tapestry. The omnipotent Earl of Narciss presides over all, a towering beacon of authority. Below him, the five illustrious High-Exarchs govern our extensive regions: Worcestershire, Luxequinox, Valerium, Xyrolith, and Chalcrystis, their power extending like mighty tendrils across the land. Beneath them, common Lords dutifully serve, biding their time to inherit their ancestors' prestige. And the humble AeroBarons, they art of humbler origins yet rise by their own merit, striving to claim their piece of the grand Narcissian tapestry.
(Both Lord Preen and the Adepetus Æther remain suspicious of the invitation)
Lord Preen: (nervous) It is rather unorthodox for Narciss to bestow such an invitation. The weight of uncertainty rests heavy upon me.
Adapetus Æther: (Equally uneasy) Thou speak thine thoughts exactly. The abruptness of this summons is confounding, and thy am unable to dispel this disquiet.
Protagonist: (With innocent enthusiasm) Ah, but the prospect thrills the heart, does it not? To be summoned to a grand place like Worcestershire, what a journey lies ahead of us!
Baron Vanity: (Offended) I perceive a touch of doubt in your words. Allow me to assure thou that this invitation is a distinguished privilege. The illustrious Earl Bigot yearns to revel in your presence and bestow his generous hospitality. Pray, thou do not entertain thoughts of declining such benevolence, do you? In our society, it is considered a grievous offense to spurn such an offering. Lord Preen, hath thou forgotten this? And to the fair maiden, with a heart as pure as gold, I implore thee to contemplate the elation your acceptance would bestow upon Earl Bigot and the populace of Narciss.
(Lord Preen knows he is defeated)
Lord Preen: I..I-
Baron Vanity: (Interrupting) Your father hath been longing for the presence of his only son and heir, Lord Preen. It has been many years, and your company would bring joy to him. He wishes to reconcile and celebrate your return.
(Before Preen can respond the ambassador directs his attention upon the Adapetus Æther)
Baron Vanity: (Looking to the Adapetus Æther) As for you, esteemed Adapetus Æther, your presence is of particular interest to our people. Your knowledge and abilities could prove to be of great value in Worcestershire. Our airship designers and researchers owe you a great deal.
Protagonist: (Excited) I am absolutely thrilled by this invitation, and I humbly accept on behalf of all of us. What an incredible opportunity this is!
Baron Vanity: (Pleased) Excellent. Your understanding is most appreciated. I assure you that you have made a wise choice. Now, if you all would be so kind as to follow me to your transportation. We have a wondrous journey ahead.
(The characters exit the stage, and the lights dim to darkness)
(End of Act One: Intermission)
Act Two - Scene One:
(A new location: Worcestershire's cobblestone streets were eerily deserted, flanked by grand and opulent buildings adorned with Narcissian banners)
(Stage directions: golden, soft lights, should amplify the white and gold aesthetic)
(Lord Preen, the Protagonist, the Adapetus Æther, and Ambassador Vanity all enter the scene)
Ambassador Vanity: Welcome to Worcestershire, my dear guests. The empty streets, a sign of respect to our grand arrival.
Protagonist: (In awe) Such a splendid sight! The grandeur of these buildings is unlike anything I’ve ever beheld.
Adapetus Æther: The architecture here is indeed of unparalleled magnificence.
Ambassador Vanity: Narciss, you see, is unrivalled in innovation and progress. Our regions, each more remarkable than the last, play a vital role.
Protagonist: And, Ambassador Vanity, could you share with us the specifics of how these regions contribute to this progress?
Ambassador Vanity: Very Well. Allow me to present to you Worcestershire, the pinnacle of Narcissian grandeur, the veritable epicenter of power. High-Exarch Worce himself orchestrates the ceaseless rhythm of this administrative domain, where golden gears of governance grind with precision. In this illustrious realm, power flows like a cascading river, and influence is measured in the weight of secrets held. Worcestershire, a masterpiece of intricate architecture, is a living testament to the astute political wit of its High-Exarch. Under his rule, Narciss thrives in an atmosphere of calculated elegance, as each gear in the political machinery plays its part.
(Lord Preen decides to express his boredom by inserting dry jokes and snide comments after every description)
Lord Preen: (Dry) Bureaucracy: Worcestershire’s main export and Exarch Worce’s favourite pastime.
(The protagonist tries to stifle her laughter at this)
Ambassador Vanity: Behold, Luxequinox, a radiant bastion of innovation in the realm of Narciss. High-Exarch Lux, a brilliant mind and a maven of progress, guides this realm towards the zenith of technological achievements.
Lord Preen: In Luxequinox, they’ve likely invented an ætheric device that can detect ethical dilemmas and promptly ignore them.
Ambassador Vanity: Ah, Valerium, a place of great sustenance for our society. High-Exarch Val is a perfectionist in both agriculture and medicine, ensuring that our people have access to the finest care. His meticulous approach makes him an exemplary leader in these vital fields.
Lord Preen: (wryly) Valerium – the land where they grow crops so meticulously that they probably count every grain of wheat individually!
Ambassador Vanity: In Xyrolith, a realm of excessive mineral abundance and supposedly fine craftsmanship, High-Exarch Onyx governs her people with what some consider an excessively soft heart. It has been insinuated that her unwavering compassion may sometimes hinder the efficiency of her rule. It is a place where an unbridled surplus of minerals mingles with what can only be described as sentimentality, forging an unusual fusion of raw wealth and tenderness.
Lord Preen: I have heard tales that High-Exarch Onyx’s care for her people is rivalled only by her love for sparkly things.
Ambassador Vanity: Lastly, we have Chalcrystis, a realm of pure enchantment and opulence. High-Exarch Cha is a model leader of our society, managing the splendid confluence of artistry and wealth with unparalleled skill. His rule, marked by prosperity and festivity, has made this region a true spectacle. Here, the vibrancy of music and entertainment harmoniously dances with a flair for indulgence, all masterminded by the astute and spirited High-Exarch Cha.
Lord Preen: Oh, High-Exarch Cha, where art thou? Counting thy wealth, no doubt.
Adapetus Æther: Ambassador, may I ask who leads the magnificent Narcissian Navy?
(Stage directions: Dimming of lights? Sound effects of engines and the ominous hum of advanced machinery. The characters look up in amazement)
Adapetus Æther: What is tha-
Ambassador Vanity: The pride of the Narcissian Navy, The ND Narcissus. Flagship of our fleet, sovereign of the skies, and the only Dreadnought in existence.
Lord Preen: The rumours were true?
Ambassador Vanity: Indeed, they were, it is under the command of Aeroadmiral Noble.
Ambassador Vanity: Come! The Earl of Narciss awaits!
(The characters exit the stage on the opposite side they entered)
(End of Scene One)
Scene Two:
(The grand chamber within the Earl’s Manor is a true feast for the senses. Opulent and exquisite in design, it radiates an aura of grandeur and extravagance. The predominant aesthetic of white and gold synthesises an atmosphere of sophistication and luxury)
(The characters enter the scene, led by Lord Preen and Ambassador Vanity, with the protagonist and Adepetus Æther following closely behind)
(The characters reach the middle of the stage. Vanity turns around to face them, as does Lord Preen)
Ambassador Vanity: (Proudly) Gentlemen and Lady, allow me to present unto thee the illustrious sovereign of the entire realm of Narciss, Earl Bigot. He is a figure of unadulterated might and grandeur in our society, the peak of Narcissian excellence, and a man whose vision leads us to loftier aspiration
(The grand chamber doors creak open, revealing the majestic presence of Earl Bigot, the venerable ruler of Narciss. His entrance exudes the essence of a lifetime of self-importance and narcissism)
(Stage directions: Spotlight on Earl Bigot)
Earl Bigot: Behold, the embodiment of Narciss’s resplendent legacy! I am Earl Bigot, the culmination of centuries of wisdom, bestowed upon me by a long lineage of forebears. My existence here stands as a testament to the magnificence of my rule, a lifetime spent in the pursuit of opulence and excellence. For this realm, this legacy, and its grandeur, I am eternally bound. Narciss, through the decades, has thrived under the reign of Bigot, a name that shall forever be synonymous with unparalleled grandeur.
(The ambassador bows, humbled by the presence of someone so far above him)
Ambassador Vanity: (Humbly) Earl Bigot, I followed your orders to the letter, and I am honoured to be in your presence, for Narciss truly shines under your leadership.
Earl Bigot: (Grand) Ah, Aerobaron Vanity! A man of impeccable talents. Tell me, who has accompanied you today to bask in the splendour of my presence?
(The Adapetus Æther decides to introduce himself cautiously)
Adapetus Æther: Greetings, Earl Bigot, I am the Adapetus Æther. I have heard much about your endeavours. Pray, what can thou tell us about the remarkable Dreadnought that rules your navy?
Earl Bigot: Indeed, I have heard of you, of course. The monumental advancements we have achieved would have remained an unattainable dream without your ground-breaking discovery. I must express that there is someone here, filled with admiration, yearning for the opportunity to meet you.
Adapetus Æther: Who might that be, Earl Bigot?
Earl Bigot: (Cryptically) Ah, my dear Adapetus Æther, the enigma of that question. Thou shalt soon find out. All in good time, for the threads of fate weave intricate patterns.
(Before the Adapetus can respond the protagonist decides to join in)
Protagonist: (Innocent) Oh, it is an absolute honour to meet you, Earl Bigot. I have heard so much about the wondrous beauty of Narciss, and I am just thrilled to be here!
Earl Bigot: (With a hint of surprise, studying the protagonist's wings) Wings, an enchanting sight, reminiscent of a past endeavour. I once asked for such beauty, though fate took an intriguing turn, evidently. A testament to the unforeseen.
Lord Preen: (Nervously, with a hint of bitterness) Father, it has been some time. Your sudden interest in progress is rather surprising, but I see that you have managed to build quite the spectacle here in Narciss.
Earl Bigot: (Grandly) Preen, my heir, how the passing years have kept us apart. The realm of Narciss, fuelled by my vision and your legacy, stands as a testament to the grandeur we can achieve together.
(Captain Star-Caster enters the scene)
Earl Bigot: Ah, Captain Star-Caster, your unwavering loyalty to Narciss has not escaped my perceptive eye. I trust you have gleaned more than mere pleasantries during your tenure with these esteemed guests. Enlighten us with the valuable secrets you’ve skilfully uncovered.
Captain Star-Caster: Your Eminence, it hath been an honour to serve. I've keenly observed the Adapetus Æther's diplomatic manoeuvres, delving into the intricacies of alliances and potential threats. The dance of politics is as captivating as ever, and I've made note of every step.
Earl Bigot: (Nodding) Excellent. Information is power, and your role in acquiring it is invaluable. Illuminate us with the nuanced details you've discovered, for Narciss thrives on staying one step ahead in this grand waltz of intrigue.
Captain Star-Caster: Your Eminence, the Adapetus Æther is tirelessly refining the Ætheric technologies of the Æther Defence Fleet, however they remain oblivious to our technological strides—embodied by our concealed Dreadnought and Wraiths—the Order of the Dragoon persists in targeting Ætheric advancements. I’ve also confirmed the authenticity of the troubling rumors surrounding Ætheric storms and the Æther Sickness. Moreover, the ÆDF deploys advanced Vanguards, lethal strikers at the forefront of their squadrons.
Earl Bigot: (Smirking) Ah, the intricacies of politics and warfare never fail to fascinate. Your diligence, Captain Star-Caster, is commendable. Information indeed is power, and your revelations provide valuable insights into the delicate dance of power and innovation. Continue to unravel these threads; we must be well-versed in every strand that we may weave the future of Narciss to our advantage.
Adapetus Æther: (With a stern glare) Captain Star-Caster, how long have your eyes been piercing the veil of our endeavours? Your loyalty seems to have wandered into the realm of espionage.
Captain Star-Caster: Adapetus Æther, in the mineral transporters of Xyrolith, my unparalleled skills soared unnoticed. High-Exarch Onyx, blinded by her misplaced compassion, denied me the recognition I deserved. Frustrated and disregarded, I embarked on the clandestine journey of espionage, driven by the desire to demonstrate that strength, not misguided compassion, should propel Narciss to unprecedented heights.
Earl Bigot: Captain Star-Caster, return to the docks and await further instructions. Ambassador Vanity, escort the fair maiden to a bedroom. Lord Preen, Adapetus Æther, I have something to show both of you. Follow me
(Captain Star-Caster leaves the stage, followed by Ambassador Vanity and the protagonist, finally Earl Bigot, Lord Preen and the Adapetus Æther leave)
(The lights dim to nothing)
End of Scene Two
Scene Three:
(As the veil is lifted, an unsettling aura overtakes the stage, where soft light and mist - conjured with dry ice - create an eerie atmosphere. Sleek machines hum so softly as to be barely audible. There is an operating table adorned with polished implements, each more wicked and cruel-looking than the last. Tanks house grotesque fusions of flesh and machine, humanoid in shape, seemingly inactive, the whole room seems to cry into a bottomless subterranean, abyss, it laments about knowledge forbidden to mankind and the abhorrent tampering with of the natural order)
(Note: The machines, tanks, and the operating table are all on wheels for easy removal at end of scene)
Lord Preen: (Unsettled) Where art we?
Earl Bigot (Grandly) Hail, my heir, thou art within the sanctum of enlightenment, where the horizons of wisdom are breached, and the cogs of destiny turn with resolute purpose.
Earl Bigot: Fear not, Adapetus. As a scholar of great knowledge, this chamber holds secrets of immense import for thee.
(Enter the Adapetus Biomechanical)
(The Adapetus Biomechanical gracefully enters the lab, clad in a pristine white lab coat. Silver goggles perch on her forehead)
Adapetus Biomechanical (Calm, and a little Playful): Ah, greetings, esteemed guests, as you tread into the heart of creation. I am the Adapetus Biomechanical, and you have entered a realm of uncharted possibilities. Pray, what brings the illustrious Adapetus Æther, the noble Earl Bigot, and the future Earl of Narciss, Lord Preen, to my humble abode?
Adapetus Æther: Thou art the catalyst for the leaps and bounds in technological advancements Narciss has made?
Adapetus Biomech: Indeed, take grand Dreadnought, the ND Narcissus. In the crucible of my inventive prowess, I played a pivotal role in its design. The formidable enhanced ætheric engines, a harmonious collaboration with Luxequinox, and the ability to extract the very essence of the skies, a task masterfully executed by the Adapetus-to-be Apprentice Arcane. Its dominion over the skies propelled by the very elements harnessed from boundless heights. Armed with heavy Suspendium cannons, Suspendium lasers, and even a superweapon: The Ætheric Storm Generator, the brainchild of the finest minds in the realm. That behemoth is not only a marvel of engineering but a symbol of Narcissian ingenuity, capable of carrying four Wraiths and sixteen Strikers. This would be simply impossible without your discoveries, Adapetus.
(The Adapetus Æther pauses, deep in thought before stating his next
query)
Adapetus Æther: Pray, shed some light on the capabilities of the Wraiths that accompany the Dreadnought, and what safeguards have been implemented to protect the ND Narcissus from potential threats. And might you reveal the extent of the Ætheric Storm Generator’s destructive potential and its tactical applications?
Adapetus Biomechanical: (Amused) Thou crafts a torrent of queries , Adapetus, much like the Adapeti in training in Luxequinox. The Narcissus is a fortress adorned with impenetrable armour, fortified further by a symphony of point defence turrets. As for the Ætheric Storm Generator, a masterstroke of Narcissian ingenuity. This celestial architect can conjure artificial ætheric storms, surpassing the wrath of nature itself. These tempests, fierce and unyielding, dismantle airships with ruthless precision, rendering landscapes desolate and lifeless. Fear not, for the ND Narcissus, in the wisdom of its designers, bears an intrinsic ætheric shield to withstand the cataclysmic echoes of its own superweapon. As for the Wraiths, weaving through the vast expanse, embody both reconnaissance and the prowess of stealth. Armed with ætheric disruptors, they dance with the delicate art of disabling foes, rendering adversaries powerless in the face of impending doom. Aerial torpedoes, their deadly companions, unleash chaos upon the helpless airships, often targeting command vessels with ruthless precision.
Lord Preen: A splendid display of Narcissian ingenuity, I must say. But, my inquisitive mind is plagued by one pressing question: How many Egoni did this impressive spectacle cost? A mere hundred million, perhaps?
Adapetus : (Brightly) Beyond a mere hundred million Egoni, my lord! The Narcissus danced its way through the royal coffers, leaving the treasury a tad lighter. But fear not, for taxes, that ever-flowing fountain of generosity, graciously footed the bill. Now, onto these tanks—within them, the harmonious convergence of flesh and machine, creatures forged in the crucible of ambition. Allow me to introduce you to the biomechanical wonders that await awakening.
(She walks over to the tanks, gazing at them fondly. Earl Bigot, Lord Preen, and the Adapetus Æther)
Adapetus Biomech: (Proudly) Within these tanks reside the intricate results of our endeavors—volunteer criminals, and unsuspecting peasants abducted from the humble region of Pheasantine Republic. A democracy less endowed than Narciss, where the deemed inferior find themselves elevated through our craft. Their bodies, a canvas for ætheric augmentation, house devices in their brains ensuring unwavering obedience to designated commanders, complemented by artificial organs and steampunk limbs touched by the essence of Æther. Their skin, decayed and revealing the bones beneath, coated in an alloy of our design. Capable of both violence and cunning, these biomechanical wonders await their call to the stage of war.
Adapetus Æther (Dubious): A fascinating display, yet I can’t help but ponder the ethical implications of such augmentation. How do you justify the manipulation of these souls?
Lord Preen (Sarcastically): Ah, the unsurprising tale of Narciss, abducting commoners from the humble Pheasantine Republic. A practice so expected, it’s practically a cultural exchange, wouldn’t you say?
Earl Bigot (Sincerely): Indeed, Lord Preen, those commoners from the Pheasantine Republic are an inferior, savage, sub-human lot. It's only fitting that they serve a superior purpose here in Narciss.
(The Adapetus Æther`s demeanour shifts to barely concealed rage, his hands curl into fists, he thinks better of it, though, and the hands uncurl)
Earl Bigot (With a sly grin): Ah, but this is not the place for extended discourse. Perhaps, later, in the grand meeting room of the High-Exarchs, we shall continue this fascinating discussion. And reveal the grand plan.
(The characters exit the scene, and the lights dim to nothing)
End of Scene Three.
Scene Four:
(The bedroom, adorned with opulent Narcissian decor, echoes with a haunting silence. The grand canopy bed, draped in luxurious fabrics, dominates the room. Golden light filters through the ornate windows, casting intricate patterns on the polished floor. A sense of anticipation lingers in the air, as the protagonist awaits the unfolding events)
Protagonist: (melancholy) Why must a place so aesthetically pleasing be tainted by the presence of ruthless souls? Within the hearts of the Narcissians, a voracious maw of greed consumes every trace of benevolence, leaving behind a poisoned well of intentions. The radiant bonds of camaraderie are cruelly sundered by the blade of ambition, strangled by ethereal spectres conjured by the illusions of lofty aspirations. It feels as though a malevolent puppeteer revels in their affliction, orchestrating a symphony of sickness. Perhaps it’s the allure of wealth that has ensnared them, a tempting elixir that corrupts even the noblest of intentions.
(High-Exarch Onyx, adorned in an opulent robe with rich gemstone embellishments, enters the room. Her compassionate eyes reflect both kindness and wisdom, and the gems she adores sparkle in the dim light. A warm presence surrounds her, contrasting the harsh reality of Narciss)
High-Exarch Onyx: (Gracefully) Greetings, fair one. I am Onyx, High-Exarch of Xyrolith. My heart delights in the radiance of precious gems, and in the beauty that transcends mere material. What solace dost this chamber bring thee in the midst of our intricate and tumultuous world?
Protagonist: (Surprised) A High-Exarch gracing my prison? Pray, what brings thee to my “quarters”?
High-Exarch Onyx: (Kindly) My dear, I have sensed the weight of your contemplations. In this labyrinth of Narcissian ambitions, one may find solace in the company of kindred spirits. I come not as a harbinger of further burdens but as a listener to the echoes of your thoughts.
Protagonist: (With a hint of gratitude) Your presence is a gentle breeze amid the storm of Narcissian schemes.
High-Exarch Onyx: I bring troubling tidings, dear one. Plans are set in motion to unleash the might of the Dreadnought upon the world, a conquest that could shatter the fragile peace. Know this, the colossal war machine is nigh-invulnerable. Earl Bigot’s ambitions, and even Lord Preen’s loyalty, may not be as steadfast as they seem. The currents of change whisper deceit in the air.
Protagonist: (disbelief) How can I trust these words? Do you bring proof of such dire claims, or do you seek to entangle me in webs of deceit?
High-Exarch Onyx: Believe me, fair maiden, for my words are as true as the gemstones I hold dear. The Dreadnought, a colossal force, threatens not only the neighboring lands but also the delicate balance of our own Narciss. Earl Bigot’s insatiable hunger for power, and Lord Preen’s ambitions, are guiding Narciss down a treacherous path. I come to you with a warning, for amidst the turmoil, there may be a spark of hope, a chance for change.
High-Exarch Onyx: (leaning in, a subtle smile) Fair maiden, sometimes the answers lie within, and the choices we make shape the destiny of nations. As for my intentions, know that the stage is set for a grand transformation. High-Exarch Worce, weary from the weight of his decisions, will be gently led to the path of retirement. High-Exarch Lux, with his unethical experiments, shall face the walls of confinement. These are the threads of change, and you, dear protagonist, may find yourself weaving the fabric of Narcissian fate.
(Onyx falls silent and begins to look around the room)
As Onyx scans the room, her gaze fixates on a striking painting—a masterful depiction of a hunter taking aim at a resplendent white bird, its feathers gleaming in the ethereal light. The hunter’s intent, frozen in the artistry, mirrors the scene Lord Preen unknowingly enacted not long ago)
High-Exarch Onyx: (quietly, to herself) Art has a way of mirroring reality, doesn’t it? (pauses) A metaphor, perhaps, for the challenges that lie ahead.
Protagonist: (with a wry smile) It’s almost as if these paintings foretell the strangest of events. A hunter with a peculiar fondness for winged targets, don’t you think?
High-Exarch Onyx: Perhaps.
(The lights dim to nothing)
End of scene four
Scene five:
(Grand meeting room, adorned with opulent Narcissian aesthetics, towering marble columns support a vaulted ceiling. A large, intricately carved table occupies the centre, surrounded by ornate chairs. Lush, and bold tapestries depict Narcissian triumphs and symbols of power adorn the walls. One such tapestry – the largest - depicts a fierce and chaotic battle. Soldiers clash with unidentified adversaries in the midst of a tumultuous landscape)
(The protagonist, Lord Preen, Earl Bigot and both Adapeti are present)
Protagonist: (Curious) Why have I been summoned to the High-Exarchs' meeting room? What pressing matters could possibly draw me into this chamber of authority and Intrigue?
Adapetus Æther: (Distrustful) Why have we gathered in this opulent chamber? It seems I am a pawn in a game I do not comprehend.
Earl Bigot: (Commanding) Your lack of understanding is inconsequential, Adapetus. You are here because your knowledge may serve Narciss well.
Adapetus Æther: (Intimidated) If it must, your Eminence. My knowledge, once a beacon of improvement, now carries a hopelessness in the iron grip of Narciss.
Earl Bigot: Earldom of Narciss, a bastion of aristocratic virtue, shall extend its benevolent influence over the neighboring realms. The Pheasantine Republic’s feeble experiment with democracy shall crumble before our might, ushering in a new era of order. Aquiloria’s meritocratic illusions shall bow to the aristocratic truth, recognizing the inherent superiority of noble blood. In Vorantis, the Technocratic Enclave, our skilled manipulators will exploit their obsession with progress, turning their own innovations into tools of control. Umbracrest, lost in the chaos of anarchy, shall become fertile ground for Narcissian dominance. Cerulea, the Theocratic Confederacy, will witness the ascendancy of the Order of the Dragoon, aligning its conservative beliefs with the might of Narciss. Such is the grand tapestry we weave, each region’s weakness becoming a stepping stone to our unparalleled supremacy. The Narcissian vision shall rise above the fractured realms, shaping a world where the aristocracy reigns supreme, unchallenged and eternal.
Earl Bigot (Commanding): The mighty ND Narcissus, our towering Dreadnought, shall cast its imposing shadow over the realms we seek to conquer. With a cadre of ethereal Wraiths and agile Strikers under its dominion, it shall be an instrument of divine retribution. The Wraiths, sinister specters of the skies, shall destroy the command ships of opposing leaders, sowing discord and chaos. Stealthily, they shall disable their airships, leaving them defenceless against our impending onslaught. Meanwhile, the Strikers, swift and lethal, shall rain down destruction upon the helpless vessels. As the Dreadnought advances, cities shall tremble, and the once proud leaders of these realms shall bow before the might of Narciss. The very heavens shall bear witness to our ascendancy, as the ND Narcissus dominates the skies, obliterating any who dare oppose the aristocratic order.
Adapetus Æther: (Angry and Sarcastic) Ah, is that the grand vision? To unleash the Dreadnought and its spectral minions upon unsuspecting lands? How noble! Surely, this was the pinnacle of technological innovation that I, from the scientific haven of Vorantis, envisioned—ætheric power used for global dominion. I see no ethical quandaries here. And pray tell, let us not forget the delightful creations from my esteemed colleague, the Adapetus Biomechanical. Those charming biomechanical creatures, born of twisted ambition and scientific curiosity, lurking in tanks like grotesque trophies of Narcissian prowess. A display of magnificence indeed!
Adapetus Biomech: (Pleased) Behold the culmination of twisted brilliance! Our biomechanical forces, meticulously designed to install fear and chaos in the hearts of our adversaries. The brutes, with their relentless strength, eviscerate foes with swift brutality, their metallic limbs tearing through flesh and bone. Their jaws, equipped with razor-sharp metallic teeth, rend through armor as if it were paper. Lurkers, the silent reapers, strike from the shadows with a gruesome finesse, their clawed appendages poised to tear out throats and vital organs. With heightened senses compensating for their blindness, they navigate the battlefield with predatory precision, leaving behind a wake of terror. Lunatics, the embodiment of insanity, unleash blood-curdling screams that pierce the battlefield, spreading terror among all who hear. Their erratic movements make them unpredictable and unnerving, creating a psychological battlefield where fear becomes a weapon in itself. Enter the pyromaniacs, twisted beings armed with flamethrowers and other incendiary devices, turning the very air into a blistering inferno. Their relentless assault leaves nothing but ashes in their wake, a testament to the devastating power they bring to the battlefield. The occults, possessing both intelligence and mastery over sky essence magic, orchestrate this mechanized symphony with strategic brilliance. Their eyes glow with an otherworldly light as they manipulate the forces of the sky, directing the biomechanical entities with an eerie precision. Picture this macabre ballet, each biomechanical entity a grotesque performer in our grand theatrical display of conquest! From the brutal efficiency of the brutes to the calculated strikes of the lurkers, every element combines into a nightmarish vision of warfare.
(The protagonist is visibly repulsed by this)
Protagonist: (Horrified) By the heavens, what monstrous abominations have you wrought upon the world? This is madness!
Lord Preen: (Uncertain) This... this was not what I signed up for. Are we to unleash such horrors upon the innocent?
Earl Bigot: (Persuasively) Lord Preen, do you not see the power at our fingertips? The might of Narciss will be unmatched, and you shall be part of this glorious conquest. Embrace the strength we command, and cast aside doubts that only hinder progress. The world will kneel before Narciss, and you shall stand among the triumphant.
Lord Preen: (Choosing Bigot) I... I never signed up for atrocities. But if this is the path to power, then so be it. I stand with my father, Earl Bigot.
Protagonist: (Upset) No, this is beyond the realm of reason! I cannot be part of such monstrous schemes.
Lord Preen: (Upset, but firm) Farewell, old friend. This is the way the world turns, and I’ll turn with it.
Earl Bigot: (Smirking) Ad Astra Per Aspera. Through hardships to the stars, Lord Preen. You’ve made the right choice.
Adapetus Biomech: (To Adapetus Æther) Come, there is something you need to see.
Earl Bigot: (To the Protagonist) You, my dear, will accompany us to an airship. We have matters to attend to in the Dreadnought’s brig.
Protagonist: (Sadly, with a yearning quality) United we stand, a brotherhood so grand...
Democracy our guide, with justice close at hand.
Against the shadows tall, we stand firm and strong,
A lone voice against tyranny, we sing this freedom song.
(Chorus)
Brotherhood, democracy, side by side we strive,
Against the tide of darkness, for freedom, we survive.
In the face of tyranny, we won’t stand alone,
United we’ll prevail, our seeds of hope are sown.
(Verse 2)
In the halls of power, where shadows often creep,
We’ll light the lamp of freedom, our promises to keep.
Though solitary it may seem, our resolve won’t break,
For in our hearts, the flame of justice we’ll awake.
(Chorus)
Brotherhood, democracy, side by side we strive,
Against the tide of darkness, for freedom, we survive.
In the face of tyranny, we won’t stand alone,
United we’ll prevail, our seeds of hope are sown.
(Bridge)
Through trials and tribulations, our path may twist and turn,
But with democracy as our guide, we’ll quench the fires that burn.
In the echo of our anthem, a rallying cry resounds,
For brotherhood and freedom, our purpose knows no bounds.
(Chorus)
Brotherhood, democracy, side by side, we strive,
Against the tide of darkness, for freedom, we survive.
In the face of tyranny, we won’t stand alone,
United we’ll prevail. Our seeds of hope are sown.
(They exit. The protagonist with her head held in her hands, quietly sobbing)
(The lights fade to black)
End of scene five
Scene Six:
(As the veil is lifted once more, an eerie but familiar scene unfolds – soft light, mist, and sleek machines humming softly. The operating table and tanks with grotesque creatures return. This time there is a creature that is seemingly incomplete strapped to the operating table)
Adapetus Æther: (Curious) Why have you brought me back to the lab, Adapetus Biomechanical? I assumed my tour here was concluded.
Adapetus Biomechanical: (Slightly mysterious) There are intricacies beneath the surface, Æther. Within these walls lie not only the physical creations but the echoes of our shared past. I wish to unravel those threads with you.
Adapetus Æther: (Confused) Shared past? What secrets does this lab hold that connect us, and why revisit them now?
Adapetus Biomech: (Reflective) There are echoes of our shared journey in this place, the cacophony of ambitions and failures that wove our destinies together.
Adapetus Æther: (Confused) Shared journey? What memories linger in this cold, metallic laboratory that I fail to recognize?
Adapetus Biomech: (Gently) Adapetus, I am the architect of dreams, the weaver of machinery's embrace—once your fellow apprentice, and now the Adapetus Biomechanical of Narciss. In the realm of ambition, I sought your acknowledgment, crafting intricate clockwork devices to garner the gaze I so yearned for. As the currents of Aeromancy eluded my grasp, the other adapeti-to-be ridiculed me, their mockery followed me like a haunting echo, but within the realm of anatomy and machine building, I discovered my true prowess. My heart harbored feelings unspoken. I nurtured an affection that transcended mere apprenticeship. Each clockwork creation held whispers of my yearning, an attempt to capture your elusive attention. Yet, it seems, those whispers lingered unheard, and my efforts faded like forgotten echoes.
Adapetus Æther: (Angry) You?! The one infamous for your sadistic enjoyment of cutting up corpses? delving into grotesque flesh and machinery I remember your relentless attempts to distract me with your clockwork contraptions, unaware of the horrors you concealed within your machinations. Sky essence manipulation, the art that evaded most, if not all, except from myself, yet you somehow became even more bitter when you failed. Those echoes of laughter, the mocking whispers, I remember them well. You may have thrived in the realms of anatomy and machines, but your sadistic tendencies cast a shadow over your every creation. What cruel motives drive your endeavours, and why really have you brought me back to this wretched laboratory?
Adapetus Biomechanical: (Smirking) Ah, Adapetus Æther, how vividly you recall! Yet, my ambitions surpassed the shackles of everyone else. In the labyrinth of Narciss, where power and prestige reign supreme, my mastery over biomechanics became my ascent. Now, standing amidst my creations, I’ll unleash not only the creatures I have made, but the twisted path that led me to this pinnacle.
Adapetus Æther: (Horror-stricken) Are you mad? You cannot unleash those abominations upon the world! The consequences would be catastrophic. Please, reconsider!
Adapetus Biomech: (Playfully) Oh, my dear Adapetus Æther, why should I not unleash my creations? Imagine the chaos, the power, the sheer brilliance of Narcissian ingenuity displayed on the grand stage of the world. Convince me, if you can, to deny the world the marvels it so desperately craves.
Adapetus Æther: (Urgently) You know all to well the havoc they can wreak! These biomechanical abominations are an affront to nature, a perversion of life itself. Think of the innocent lives they will extinguish, the suffering they will inflict. We were meant to uplift, to advance, not to become agents of destruction. Narciss doesn’t need to ascend on a throne of corpses. There must be another way, a path that doesn’t lead us down the abyss of moral decay!
Adapetus Biomechanical: (Coldly amused) Morality? my dear Æther scholar, it is a luxury we can no longer afford. Narciss hungers for power, and power demands sacrifice. If you can’t stomach the price, then step aside. The stage is set, and the curtain is about to rise on our grand production.
Adapetus Æther: (Desperate) Thou art unleashing abominations upon the world! Have you no regard for the lives you are about to extinguish, the chaos you will unleash? This path leads to nothing but ruin and suffering!
Adapetus Biomech: (Sarcastic) Oh, how touching, your concern for the feeble world beyond Narciss. Surely, their suffering is but a minor detail compared to the glory we shall achieve. Why let morality shackle the limitless potential of our work?
(The Adapetus Æther reaches into his pocket, extracting a medium length bronze rod with a bluish glow on the end, the lights brighten and focus on him)
Adapetus Æther: (Resolute) I have no choice. Perhaps if you paid more attention in Aeromancy, you’d recognize the true potential of this unstable ætheric energy lance. A culmination of my knowledge, it surpasses anything Narciss has seen. I won’t let you unleash those horrors.
Adapetus Biomech: (Angry) You dare defy Narciss? I will unleash forces be-
Adapetus Æther: (Activating the weapon) thou have left me no choice!
(A bright blue flash and a loud bang follow. The Adapetus Biomechanical is knocked down dead, her corpse swiftly removed from the stage by an unseen force)
Adapetus Æther: (Falling to his knees, clutching his chest, and coughing) (cough) I did it... (cough)
(The Adapetus Æther gets up with some difficulty)
Ambassador Vanity: (Entering, concerned) What in the heavens was that tremendous noise? Is everything in order here?
Adapetus Æther: (Waving towards the far side of the stage) Over there, Ambassador (cough) Vanity. I believe (cough) I saw something—perhaps a (cough) disturbance.
(The Adapetus Æther exits the stage)
(There should be a raspy, growling sound that increases in strength as he gets nearer)
Ambassador Vanity: (Walking towards the far side of the stage) What's that sound? Is someone there?
Ambassador Vanity: What’s happening here? I demand to kno-
(Vanity is interrupted by a wailing sound, high in pitch, before he is dragged under the curtain)
Ambassador Vanity: (Ear-piercing scream as he’s dragged under the curtain)
Ambassador Vanity: (Frantic) Unhand me! Do you know who I am? Ambassador Baron Reginald Vanity! Release me, and I promise you wealth and opulence! I can make you rich! An-
(Vanity`s desperate attempts to bribe his assailant are cut off by a gurgling sound, implying his throat has been slashed)
(The already dim lights fade to black)
End of scene six
End of Act Two
Act Three Scene One:
(The grand hall within the ÆDF Headquarters, now bathed in the serene glow of the “blue hour,” stands as an elegant testament to the alliance’s resilience. Banners flutter subtly, wooden furniture gleams, and tall windows frame the darkening sky, setting the stage for a strategic collaboration against the looming threat from Narciss)
(Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr sits on a bench with someone unfamiliar, wearing a blue navy uniform with bronze accents, we are to presume he is high up in the ranks)
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: Admiral, in the twilight’s embrace, where shadows whisper secrets, we stand at the crossroads of destiny. The Narcissian Fleet readies its ominous wings, but within the grasp of our resolve lies the power to alter the course of fate.
(The admiral nods in agreement, motioning for him to continue)
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: (Concerned) Admiral, we’ve discovered troubling intelligence from within Narciss. The Dreadnought, Narciss’s colossal war machine, is a formidable threat. Its arsenal includes weapons of unimaginable power, capable of reshaping the battlefield. The very skies become a canvas for their destructive symphony.
ÆDF Admiral: (Dismissively) Drakonvyr, we have known about the Dreadnought for at least two days. Your information seems outdated. However, proceed with details if you have any.
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: Admiral, it goes beyond conventional weapons. Massive Suspendium Cannons, deadly Suspendium lasers, and the Ætheric Storm Generator—they wield the power to plunge entire regions into chaos and devastation. The Storm Generator, in particular, is a weapon of unfathomable destruction, capable of unleashing cataclysmic Æther storms upon our allies. The consequences are dire, and I fear the malevolence that lies behind Narciss’s ambitions.
Admiral: (Astonished) By what means dost thou possess knowledge of the Ætheric Storm Generator? Such intelligence is guarded with utmost secrecy, even within the Æther Defence Fleet. Pray, reveal more of thy insights that elude our grasp.
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: (Disgusted) The Narcissian Dreadnought also deploys Wraiths, ominous vessels armed with advanced ætheric disruptors, aerial torpedoes, and this newly revealed Æther cannon—a formidable combination that presents a dire challenge to your forces. The malevolence behind their technological advancements chills me to the core.
ÆDF Admiral: Reports of a new stealth ship have reached our ears, but your revelations paint a far more sinister picture. If what you say is true, these advancements could outclass even the elusive Corsairs of the ÆDF. The playing field has shifted, and the shadows have become more treacherous than we anticipated.
Drakonvyr: (Smugly) Moreover, our spies have uncovered the Adapetus Biomechanical’s latest creations. Brutes, with relentless strength, eviscerate foes. Lurkers, silent reapers, strike from the shadows with gruesome finesse. Lunatics embody insanity, spreading terror with blood-curdling screams. Pyromaniacs turn the air into a blistering inferno. And occults, possessing intelligence and sky essence magic mastery, orchestrate this mechanized symphony. (Shifts tone to a more serious note) But here Is the chilling truth: these biomechanical entities were not born of twisted imagination alone. They are criminals and people kidnapped from the Pheasantine Republic, transformed into these nightmarish instruments of warfare. The Adapetus Biomechanical’s cruelty knows no bounds.
ÆDF Admiral: The people of the Pheasantine Republic deserve far better than to be subjected to such monstrous acts. This is a stain on humanity's honour.
Drakonvyr: (With a grim tone) Admiral, our intelligence reveals that Narciss is developing even more sinister technologies that could plunge the world into unprecedented chaos. Such as the Cacophonic Echo Chamber, broadcasting discordant ætheric waves to induce mental instability and hysteria in crowded areas. The consequences could be dire if such a device is unleashed upon our aallies. Drakonvyr: But that’s not all. Reports suggest the existence of a Voidgate Generator. This device opens temporary rifts in the fabric of reality, unleashing chaotic energies that can devastate entire regions. The potential for mass destruction is unprecedented.
ÆDF Admiral: (Puzzled) Drakonvyr, your Order of the Dragoon is attacking æther technology – such as ÆDF airships – lightning burning crosses on hills and intimidating pro-æther supporters. Why seek out the ÆDF?
Drakonvyr: (Cryptically) Admiral, beneath the veiled tapestry of fate, a dark force threatens the world. The Order, though known for opposing æther technology, sees a graver menace in the Narcissian ambitions. I propose an unholy alliance, where Dragoons and the ÆDF unite against Narciss. The storm gathers, and in unity, we may yet withstand its fury.
ÆDF Admiral: How can the Order of the Dragoon aid the ÆDF in this impending conflict against Narciss?
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: (Strategically) The Order of the Dragoon excels in dismantling and disrupting æther technologies. We can target and disable Narcissian airships, disrupt their weapons systems, and create chaos among their biomechanical forces. Our expertise in counter-æther warfare can be a formidable asset in your campaign.
Dragoon-Mage Drakonvyr: (Continuing) Additionally, my Dragoon knights, accolades, and hussars are skilled in unconventional warfare. We can infiltrate enemy lines, gather intelligence, and sabotage critical Narcissian infrastructure. Our magical prowess also allows us to counteract or shield against attacks, providing a significant advantage on the battlefield.
ÆDF Admiral: (Resolute) Very well, Drakonvyr. Let us forge this alliance for the greater good.
(They shake hands, sealing the agreement, and the scene fades out)
End of scene one
Scene Two:
(The bridge of the ND Narcissus is a commanding space adorned with intricate brass and woodwork. A massive central command console stands as the focal point, surrounded by navigation stations and communication arrays. Ætheric lighting bathes the room, casting shadows on the faces of the officers present. The air is thick with tension as the crew goes about their duties under the watchful gaze of Aeroadmiral Noble. Earl Bigot stands alongside Aeroadmiral Noble, overseeing the operations with a stern expression)
(Lord Preen enters, his head held high, an air of nobility and command surrounds the young aristocrat)
Earl Bigot: Lord Preen, you stand on the precipice of destiny. I prepare you not just for succession but for the grandeur of leading Narciss to unparalleled heights when the time is ripe.
Lord Preen: Your guidance is my honour, father. I shall strive to meet the expectations laid before me.
Earl Bigot: My esteemed son, there is an unholy alliance, a coalition of the Æther Defence Fleet and the Order of the Dragoon, conspires against us. Yet, fear not, for our well-placed agents have unravelled their designs. Pray, Aeroadmiral Noble, unfurl the details of our counter- stratagem.
Admiral Noble: The Dreadnought, our invincible ND Narcissus, takes its position at the center, a formidable force commanding the very essence of power. Flanking its right, left, and bottom are the Heavy Cruisers—Dominion, Majesty, and Supremacy—guards of grandeur. In a delicate dance surrounding the fleet’s outer edges, the Light Cruisers—Elegance, Regalia, Grandeur, Wealth, Power, and Sovereign—form an ornate screen, shielding us from threats on the horizon. Hovering above, like vigilant phantoms, the Wraiths—Spectre, Phantom, Ethereal, Apparition, Shade, Haunt, Wraith, Poltergeist, Ghost, and Spirit—maintain an ethereal presence. They serve as our eyes, wielding enhanced ætheric disruptors and aerial torpedoes with silent mastery. Within the chambers of our Heavy Cruisers and the heart of the Dreadnought itself, our Strikers rest, ready to be unleashed when the time is right. Each element of our formation, meticulously positioned, embodies the artistry of warfare, ensuring our dominance in the coming conflict.
Lord Preen: (Curious) What do we know about the coalition?
Aeroadmiral Noble: The coalition's strength lies in its united forces—the Æther Defence Fleet's advanced airship technology combines seamlessly with the Order of the Dragoon's magical prowess. However, their internal strife and conflicting methodologies could prove to be a critical weakness. We shall exploit this division to our advantage, striking with precision and overwhelming force.
(Lord Preen nods at this)
Earl Bigot: Lord Preen, to solidify your place as the future leader, there is one last task you must undertake to prove your worthiness. A decision of strategic significance that will showcase your commitment to the success of the Narcissian Fleet.
Lord Preen: Father, I am ready to prove myself. Tell me the task you wish for me to undertake, and it shall be done with unwavering loyalty.
Earl Bigot: Preen, there's one last task to prove your worth. Finish what you started, (To Admiral Noble) bring her in.
Aeroadmiral Noble: Already done, your Eminence.
(Two men wearing white naval uniforms enter, the protagonist is held between them)
(Earl Bigot hands Lord Preen an extravagantly ornate clockwork bow, white with golden detailing)
Earl Bigot: Lord Preen, this task is not only a testament to your loyalty but an opportunity to enhance the very fabric of our power. The wings of the Ætherium are a conduit to the skies, intertwining with the Æther itself. They hold the potential to amplify the might of the Ætheric Storm Generator. This duty serves both as a trial and as a contribution to Narciss's ascendancy. Do not falter; embrace the path laid before you.
Lord Preen: Father, your ambition for power is undeniable, but surely there are other paths that won't forever tarnish our family name. To execute an innocent young woman for the sake of power is a stain that will echo through our legacy. There must be another way to secure our ascendancy without committing such an irreversible act.
Earl Bigot: (Angry) Will you be a failure, Lord Preen? Do you lack the fortitude to hunt this game, to make the necessary sacrifices for the prosperity of our lineage? Are you so feeble that you would wilt under the weight of responsibility? Do you wish to be a disappointment, a feeble echo of my legacy? This is the path to our family’s greatness, and you will not falter now.
Lord Preen: (Resigned) Very well, Father. (He takes aim at the heart of the protagonist)
(The two men holding her leave)
(The lights black out abruptly, ending the scene in darkness)
End of scene two
Scene three:
(The lights turn back on slowly, revealing that nothing has changed or moved in the transition)
Protagonist: (Desperate, on the verge of tears) Lord Preen, in the quiet of the woods, you spared me. The accomplishments you strive for are never enough for your father, a relentless pursuit that leaves you ever reaching for an unattainable approval. For five years, we shared the burdens of our respective paths. Look beyond the shadows your father casts; there’s another path, one free from the stain of innocent blood, offering redemption for both of us.
Earl Bigot: (Sarcastically) How touching! Preen, do take the shot. Let the dramatics cease, and the inevitable unfold.
Lord Preen: (Shifting his aim to Earl Bigot) Aiming for a place in the annals of history, are we not?
Earl Bigot: You do not have the guts to—
(Lord Preen interrupts by firing the clockwork bow, hitting Earl Bigot it)
(Stage directions: this is done by blacking out the lights, using a sound effect, and having the fall to the ground with a shout of pain. the Bigot actor should pop up a fake arrow identical to the one in the bow while simultaneously bursting the fake blood packets under the costume. The Preen actor should remove the arrow from the bow and pocket it, after this the lights should turn back on)
Earl Bigot: (In shock) You... dare?
Lord Preen: Yes, I dare, father.
(He lowers his bow, leaving his wounded father on the ground)
Earl Bigot: (Struggling to speak) Narciss has prospered under my forty-year reign, a legacy that I have painstakingly built. From the soaring towers to the opulent palaces, all bear the mark of my ambition. (He pauses, catching his breath.) I only wanted what was best for our homeland, for you, Preen. The decisions I made, even when they seemed harsh, were driven by a desire to see our people thrive. (Another pause, interrupted by a fit of coughing) I am proud of the accomplishments we have achieved together. (He takes a labored breath) I apologize for my mistakes, for not always understanding the full weight of my choices. (His voice weakens, and he struggles to continue) For only thinking of myself. (He fights to breathe) Remember m....e (the last words are a gasp as the Earl of Narciss becomes still)
Aeroadmiral Noble: (Observing the scene) Lord Preen, by the will of Narciss, you are now the rightful Earl. May your rule bring prosperity and strength to our great realm. (He offers a nod of acknowledgment to Preen)
Earl Preen: (Taking charge) There will be no invasion. The ÆDF and the Dragoons are no longer our enemies. We have a new path to forge, one that serves the prosperity of Narciss.
(The protagonist gets up, visibly shaken)
(The lights dim, and the curtain falls as the characters absorb the weight of the unexpected turn of events, leaving the audience in suspense)
End of scene three
Scene four:
(The opening of the curtain reveals the Dreadnoughts bridge, Bigots body has been removed)
Aeroadmiral Noble: Earl Preen, I must dispatch communications to the High-Exarchs and the rest of the Fleet. They need to be informed of your ascension and the alteration in our plans. May I proceed?
Lord Preen: Hold off, Admiral. I have different plans for the High-Exarchs. Exarch Worce is to retire quietly. Exarch Lux is to be arrested for his unethical experimentation, and Exarch Cha is to be removed from duty for his mistreatment of subordinates. This will be a new era for Narciss.
Earl Preen: I have ambitious plans for reform—
(An officer interrupts with an urgent announcement)
Sensor Officer: Unknown airships detected on the horizon, my Lord!
Aeroadmiral Noble: Quickly, provide an analysis of those unknown airships. What do we know about them?
Analysis Officer: Aeroadmiral, the unknown airships have been identified as Æther Defence Fleet vessels. The fleet consists of one large carrier, three smaller escort carriers, four Corsairs, six Vanguards leading squadrons of six Strikers each, and thirty-six Strikers. There are also two ships of an unknown class.
Aeroadmiral Noble: (Confused) Carriers? We have no official carriers in our fleet, no one does! What is the meaning of this?
Analysis Officer: Sir, the large carrier and three smaller escort carriers don’t have official designations, but reports from the other ships indicate they are carrying Strikers and Vanguards.
Aeroadmiral Noble: I see.
Communications Officer: Aeroadmiral, my lord, the carrier is requesting permission to break radio silence.
Earl Preen: Let us hear what they have to say.
(The Communications Officer nods and proceeds to establish communication with the approaching carrier)
ÆDF Admiral: (*On Radio*) Noble Earl Bigot of Narciss, I address you on behalf of the Æther Defence Fleet. We are aware of your planned invasion, and I must warn you that we have developed a formidable weapon, the Æther Ordnance Torpedo. Its destructive power is unmatched, and we have authorization from every realm in the world to use it if you persist in your hostilities. Cease your invasion, or face the consequences, for this weapon can lay waste to most of your main administrative region and capital Worcestershire in one devastating blast. Please acknowledge.
Earl Preen: Aeroadmiral Noble, does the Dreadnought have the capability to address both the ÆDF carrier and the entire Narcissian Fleet simultaneously?
Aeroadmiral Noble: (Respectful) It does, my Lord.
Earl Preen: Patch me through; I want to address both the ÆDF carrier and the Narcissian Fleet. (He is handed a microphone)
Earl Preen: (*On Radio*) Noble leaders and commanders of the Æther Defence Fleet and the illustrious forces of our realm, I, Earl Preen of Narciss, successor to the late Earl Bigot, do solemnly address you. With the untimely demise of my father, the era of aggression and territorial conquest has found its end. In recognition of your broadcast, I, in the name of the venerable Earldom of Narciss, command forthwith that all airships within the Grand Fleet descend from their martial pursuits. Let the skies bear no witness to further acts of violence and turmoil. The time for hostilities has reached its denouement. May this juncture inaugurate a novel epoch, wherein diplomatic overtures and mutual understanding take precedence over the looming shadows of conflict. I beseech you to retract your forces, allowing the heavens to breathe a sigh of relief and fostering the emergence of tranquility and concord among the realms. Stand down, and let this pivotal moment be the genesis of an era marked by accord and serenity.
ÆDF Admiral: (*On Radio*) Earl Preen of Narciss, we acknowledge your ascent to leadership and your plea for peace. We extend the hand of diplomatic discourse and stand ready to engage in discussions that may pave the way for unity and understanding among our realms. Let the future be shaped not by the echoes of conflict but by the harmonious accord of nations striving towards shared prosperity. We accept your offered olive branch, and together, let us forge a path to a new era.
Earl Preen: (Handing back the microphone) The realm of Narciss seeks a new course, one of collaboration and mutual respect.
Protagonist: Earl Preen, you have shown wisdom and strength in choosing a path of peace. Your decision will save countless lives and set an example for generations to come.
(The door opens, but no one enters, a familiar female voice rings out, full of anger and bitterness)
Angry feminine voice: IT. WILL. NOT.
(The lights black out once more)
End of Scene four
Scene five:
(Captain Seleene Star-Caster, furious and armed with an Æther handgun, enters the scene, pointing the weapon at Earl Preen)
Captain Seleene Star-Caster: You, Preen, have condemned Narciss to mediocrity and submission. The dreams of dominance shattered, and I swear by the skies, I will avenge Earl Bigot's vision with the flames of retribution!
Captain Seleene Star-Caster: It's not too late, Preen. I'll kill you, assume my rightful place as Countess, and unleash the Ætheric Storm upon the ÆDF fleet. Narciss will still taste victory.
Protagonist: You’re insane! Dooming hundreds of thousands to die in conflict and countless more to æther sickness in the future. What kind of victory is that?
Captain Seleene Star-Caster: Victory is never without sacrifice. Sacrifice for Narcissian glory, for dominance. This realm deserves to be reshaped under the rule of Narciss.
Aeroadmiral Noble: You have no right to the title of Countess, and in the absence of an heir or chosen successor, the High-Exarchs would determine the interim ruler until a proper replacement is chosen.
Captain Seleene Star-Caster: Don't think the ÆDF can save you. The Adapetus Æther is missing or dead. Your allies will be obliterated soon, and no one is coming to help you.
Captain Seleene Star-Caster: And you, Admiral, meddling in Narcissian affairs? Your reckoning comes sooner than you think.
Captain Seleene Star-Caster: A false Earl, a usurper. The only fitting end is a bullet.
(The lights black out, there is a sound effect of gun fire accompanied by a scream)
(The lights turn back on, Captain Star-Caster falls to the ground, her back is covered in blood)
(The Adapetus Æther, a withered figure, frail and ghastly, steps forward, revealing the effects of the Æther sickness. He is holding an Æther handgun. Beside him, High-Exarch Onyx holds a gun pointed at Exarchs Worce and Lux, who are now captives)
Adapetus Æther: Good riddance to the chaos. Perhaps now we can restore order.
High-Exarch Onyx: Earl Preen, Exarch Cha met his end at the hands of his own underlings. Chalcrystis is now ruled by Stratocrat Gaml.
(Exarch Worce, a frail and elderly man in dignified robes of office begins to protests)
High-Exarch Worce: (reedy voice) I have done nothing wrong! Release me at once!
High-Exarch Onyx: You are too old, Exarch Worce. Your time has come to retire quietly. Your successor will lead Worcestershire into a new era of fast and efficient administration.
(High-Exarch Lux is a small middle-aged man with a rather nasty little moustache)
High-Exarch Lux: (Shouting) Onyx, you useless fool! Release me at once!
High-Exarch Onyx (Holding the gun steady) You are being held accountable for your unethical experimentation. Prison awaits you, Lux.
(The two men from earlier appear)
High-Exarch Onyx: Escort former exarch Worce to his country home, and throw Lux into the brig for the time being.
(Worce and Lux are taken away by the men, who do not return)
Adapetus Æther: (Gasps for breath, coughing intermittently) Within the confines of the laboratory, chaos unfolded. The Adapetus Biomechanical, driven by madness, sought to unleash those accursed creatures upon the world. In a desperate act, I wielded an Ætheric Energy Lance, ending her deranged ambitions. (Struggling for breath) However, the toll it took on me was severe, and the Ætheric sickness now courses through my weakened veins, (coughs) a consequence of thwarting the impending catastrophe.
Adapetus Æther: (Collapses to the ground) Ah, the irony of fate... (coughs weakly) The Ætheric sickness, a relentless executioner of its own architects. My past... filled with the whims of my mentor, the Adapetus Mechanical. (Laughs maniacally) How amusing that I now face the same fate, (gasps for breath) trapped in the cruel jest of destiny. (Laughs again, increasingly erratic) The laughter of cosmic irony echoes through the ages... (Gasps for one final breath and falls silent)
Protagonist: No...not again...
Earl Preen: (Smirking) Well, it seems the Adapeti have a knack for leaving this world with a touch of dark humor.
(The lights fade as the characters leave the stage and the curtain falls)
End of scene five
Scene six: (Epilogue)
Adapetus English/Narrator: And so, in the aftermath of chaos, with the curtain descending on the grand stage of Narciss, Earl Preen, in his newfound wisdom, sought to elevate the realm. He appointed Stratocrats Quill, Quantumflare, and Melodica to oversee administration, innovation, and the arts, respectively. The Adapeti of Arcane and Alchemy joined the Earl’s laboratory, shaping the future with their technological prowess. Amid the twists and turns, Earl Preen turned to the Protagonist with a proposal as grand as the realm itself. Earl Preen: (Kneeling) Will you be my Countess? With you by my side, Narciss shall rise to unprecedented heights. Protagonist: (Smiling) Yes, my Lord, I accept. My name is Calliope by the way, no one ever asks.
(They embrace, the echoes of the tumultuous play fading into the quiet promise of a shared future.)
Adapetus English/Narrator: And so, the tale of Narciss unfolds, a story crafted with a touch of madness, a pinch of destiny, and perhaps, a dash of humor, as if some whimsical playwright had penned the script. The stage is set, the characters played their parts, and as the final act concludes, the curtains close on a realm reshaped by ambition, turmoil, and the indomitable spirit of those who dared to script their own destiny.
