Lunch with a friend
Lunch today was special
As my friend hid in her smile
Her disposition wrestled
With some urge to reconcile
I watched her in slow motion
While she softly moved her lips
To greet me with a notion
When the chair relieved her hips
Although her stare seemed empty
There was something I could read
Emotions were as plenty
With such care that would precede
Which left me feeling helpless
But I'm glad she found the time
To sit with me unselfish
While I gently probed her mind
And when our time had ended
I would hug her in my heart
As if I just befriended
Someone special from the start
So I left her with a perfume
She could wear before she bed
With a hope that it would consume
Any thought of me instead ...
