Hush, Hush
Quiet!
They can hear us,
whispering wisps of escape
giving freedom a shape.
Don't talk!
they are listening
while our foreheads are glistening,
with sweat, our hands are wet.
Still there is no way outside these stalls, we're trapped, enveloped in dangerous walls.
Hush, hush!
They have heard us trying to slip away,
they have heard us scratching at them every day,
I wonder when will they deceive, tattle on us on one sunny summer's eve.
Hush, Hush!
Again.
I'm scared my friend.
This might be our end.
They have heard all we have said
and told on us.
Goodbye, for blood will be shed.
