Self-Made Box
Sunny yellow walls, personal Listening Tom
eavesdropping on unspoken words:
A curious collection of light and dark,
of blue sky possibilities and long drowning drops
beyond a locked window, there for the opening;
remaining shut.
A box of unique and unremarkable fingerprint smudges:
mutely morse the dits and dots, the "I's" and "Oh's,"
a desperate language of its voluntary prisoner,
too fearful to try and fail or succeed.
