Crayon Box
Remember when
We could go to school
And we Worried
About the Colors
Of the tree we were going to Draw?
I could make it pink,
Nobody Cared if
Trees We're really pink.
My world was as big
As the Crayon box allowed.
But now,
It's not.
My world ranges from the
Definition Of the word skepticism
To the Rock layers in the Earth
To the Pythagorean theorem.
Now,
The trees
Are not pink
Now the trees are cells
And paper.
And that paper is
Tests
And those tests
Are grades.
Grades are now
The lines in your
Old coloring book.
Everybody said
"I like your coloring,
Even if it was outside The lines"
As they threw it away.
But we all know that the ones
Inside the lines
Are the prized possessions.
They are what we are told to achieve
But at the same time
We are told it doesn't matter.
When did my world
Stop being my
Crayon box?
