A Familiar Mask
You know that carnival ride that you always see, but don’t ride? Line too long…Craving a fresh funnel cake…whatever the reason, you see this monstrous ride so often if seems familiar. Like a bully you always see in the hallway at school because his alternative learning class is across the hall from your AP science lab.
Well, I figuratively got on this oh-so-familiar carnival ride. Was able to properly complete the basic routines; you know, you must be above this line to ride, pick a seat in a car, buckle the safely belt, etc. Before I knew it, I was in this ride for 25 years. Some people ride it for fun, and some ride it to mask their inner beasts with ups, downs, and loop de loops. When I put the bottle down I realized life wasn’t my enemy. The mask was pulled off of the multibillion dollar marketed cash cow that nearly everyone uses to cope was finally put in its place. For me at least, in the trashcan I use to call life.
