Irma and Nicholas: The Mathematical Adventure
Nicholas was a true math enthusiast. But not just of the subject—he adored his favorite teacher, Irma. Every morning when Nicholas woke up, he couldn't wait to see her again in class. Irma was warm, kind, and incredibly smart. Her love for math was contagious, and Nicholas eagerly wanted to learn more and more.
One day in math class, Irma decided to conduct a special experiment. She prepared a fun exercise involving crocodiles to make the lesson even more engaging.
— Today we will solve problems with crocodiles! — Irma began with a smile. — Imagine we have 4 swamps, and each swamp has 5 crocodiles. How many crocodiles do we have in these swamps?
Nicholas, as usual, was the first to raise his hand.
— 20 crocodiles! — he answered quickly, eager to show his knowledge.
Irma smiled and praised Nicholas. But she wasn’t done yet. She decided to make the problem a bit more complex:
— Great! Now imagine each crocodile has 6 teeth. How many teeth do all the crocodiles have?
Nicholas, already familiar with solving this kind of problem, quickly calculated on his notebook and replied:
— 120 teeth!
— Perfect! — said Irma. — And if we sell all the teeth for 15 coins each, how many coins will we earn?
Nicholas quickly figured out:
— 1800 coins.
— Correct! — said Irma. — We will earn 1800 coins.
But the lesson didn’t end there. Irma decided to add a touch of creativity to the lesson.
— Now imagine we have 1800 coins to distribute among 8 students. How many coins will each student receive?
Nicholas was excited. He quickly calculated:
— 225 coins.
— Exactly! — said Irma. — Each student will receive 225 coins.
On this lesson, Nicholas was especially happy. He loved how Irma turned math into a fun game. His love for his teacher and the subject grew every day.
— Irma, — Nicholas said once after class, — I love math so much because you make it amazing and fun!
Irma smiled and replied:
— I’m glad you enjoy it. Math can indeed be fascinating if we approach it with interest and enthusiasm.
So, Nicholas continued to enjoy every lesson, as for him, math was not just a subject but a real adventure with his beloved teacher Irma. And each day his love for the subject and for Irma only grew, like a flower in the sunlight.
