When people hear that someone has passed

In your life

They say

"I'm sorry for your loss"

But

I didn't 'lose' my dad,

I didn't misplace him,

He isn't a phone

Or a remote

He is a person.

If anything,

I lost the part of my heart

That was devoted to our future memories

To the things we had planned.
