First love
"Grandma , can you tell me what love really is?" "Love, why do you want to know about love my dear ?Are you in love?" "No grandma! I told you that I don't have time for boys right now between work, college, and taking care of you since grampa isn't here anymore ..I wanna wait until the time is right, and I wanna wait till I meet the right guy." "Well sweetheart love is simple acts of kindness that two people give to each other willingly without expecting one back. Love is something you feel and show and prove , you'll know it when you feel it , when you meet the right guy of course." "Grandma.. tell me about your first love please." "Well we lived a couple doors down from each other , and we walked each other to school every morning. I always thought of him as a friend until one Valentine's Day morning and he knocked on my door like he usually did to let me know it was time to get a move on to school. I took a few more minutes that day because my mamma put rollers in my hair and laid me out a nice red dress with hearts all over it, and I just wanted to look nice so I could get myself a valentine . Well , I opened the door , to find him standing there as usual. He was wearing a button up shirt and his church jeans, which his mamma got him for later that day after school. He had chocolates in one hand , and red and pink roses in the other . I gave him a playful punch to the arm and asked him who he planned on asking to be his valentine today. When he responded telling me that it was me , I nearly fainted. He handed me the roses, and then the chocolates . "You ain't gotta be my valentine if you ain't wanna , you probably already got another one anyways. But you look beautiful as usual . " I told him how ain't ain't a word but I secretly loved it, espicially when he used it, just cause I knew he was an old farm boy and I liked it. "Of course I'll be your valentine." Every day after that one when we walked to school together he would hold my hand or walk a little closer . We hung out more and more each day. And that summer was when I knew I really loved him. We hung out every day either on his farm or at my house. We rode horses, or played in the mud, but he always turned everything we did no matter what it happened to be into something romantic. How that boy did it, I don't know, but he won my heart over with everything he did .. "
"That was grampa wasn't it .."
"Yes it was honey , and I was just lucky that I married my first love , but unfortunately he's gone now.."
"You'll see him again soon grandma."
"I know."
