Prose Challenge of the Week #39: Write a piece of poetry or prose about addiction. The winner will be chosen based on a number of criteria, this includes: fire, form, and creative edge. The powder before you know, has you entangled.
The smoke screen in the room leaves you strangled.
Has the softest hands,"Just a little won't hurt" they say.
When the pill lands, the devil wants to play.
People get off easy when they just die,
it's harder to sober up and look the peer in the eye.
It seems like the right thing to do,
holding out an hour feels like an accomplishment too.
Everyone leaves when needed the most,
Deploring,Dilapidating,Destitute and still wanting more.
