Golden Hour
Gold dips evening’s essence
In her honey colored light
Amber effervescence
Draws long shadows ’fore the night
Sun rests on a bed of waves
Tide‘s sonnets sing to sleep
Her pulse slows and perfusion fades
Death nears as colors weep
Star’s lost luminescence;
Sky’s curtain’s drawn to veil:
Her rising, Dawn of Radiance —
Eternally, she dwells

I SAW IT
Bursting throughout the back door, Doug bolted into the living room. Grabbing his iPhone, he was frantic as he texted his brother
Doug: Charlie you there?
The entire minute it took Charlie to respond seemed like an eternity. But soon the phone chimed as the response appeared
Charlie: Yea, I’m here. What do you want?
Doug's heart is beating furiously as he types
Doug: I saw something in my back yard!
Charlie: Doug, you live near the woods. You’re likely to see anything there.
Doug: It was green, Charlie. It stood upright like a little man!
Charlie: Oh! You saw a leprechaun! Hahaha
Doug is frustrated. It seems that Charlie hardly takes his brother seriously.
Doug: No! Charlie!
Doug: I’m being serious! I have an alien in my back yard!
Charlie: You also have an overactive imagination, Doug. Lol
Just then, Doug sees the alien standing at his back door. Aiming what he thinks is a ray gun at Doug. He pulls the trigger.
Moment's later, Charlie notices Doug has stopped texting.
Charlie: Doug?
Charlie: You still there
The Devil You Don’t
Marisol carefully washed herself in the basin. She used the perfumed soap Olán had given her for her birthday. The lavender scent was strong, but did little to mask the odor of the businessman’s cologne that seemed to hang about her room.
She went to the dresser and counted the money for a third time. She did not like to touch it.
She wished Olán would come home so she could be shut of it.
Perhaps when he returned he would have good news, maybe even a job. He told her every day that he would find work soon, that their fortunes would turn around. That she could stop with these visits from the businessman.
“It is not a choice we make willingly,” he often said. He was careful to always say “we.”
He liked to say that their necessity would negate the sin of all this, that God would understand.
The Hive Queen
WORLD:
From my fantasy story where everone's consciousness's are connected and can be travelled through by those called 'travellers' who spend their lives training to do this. There is a parasite that eats away and destroys consciousness and there are a few travellers who convert to a cult that worship these parasites. The Queen is the mother and leader of the parasites.
BACKSTORY:
She was created out of suppression. The things people choose to forget or ignore out of neccesity pool and somehow created the hive. She rules the hive, but is also one with the hive.
APPEARANCE:
She takes on the appearance of your dark side. When you look at her you see yourself but only the parts of yourself you wish didn't exist. A female pronoun is applied to her because almost all of the travellers experienced and talented enough to see her have been female, so they saw themselves.Iinterestingly, one of the few times she was seen as male was by a trans female traveller, who saw themself as male in the Queen.
POWERS:
When in the presence of The Queen, a traveller can experience past traumas, and or come face to face with that which the never want to accept or acknowledge. Travellers come away broken and if they cant bear it, they may never recover. If they are strong enough, however, they may grow and improve.
It is also known that she is the creator of the parasite, which isolates and destroys consciousness's, and can kill inexperienced travellers when encountered.
All else that is known, is that if she, her parasitic offspring, and her misterious cultic following aren't defeated, the world as we know it is in mortal peril.
