The Long Drive Home.......
So many people are long hours away from the hometown of their youth,
The drive home across America is always more slowly cathartic than boring.
Things that towered so big fifty years ago are now old, dilapidated.
People, they are what going home is all about, even as geography calls us to our roots.
Time slows, drags on and almost stops, as the earth calls us to rest.
Soon we will join the aged and be visited a few times each year.
Yet without hometown geography,
will todays young have the catharsis of the long drive home?
