Chaos Theory
A butterfly
Flapped its wings
In Pasadena
And here you are,
A Hurricane at my front door.
Your eyes, still
Like the night
We chicken danced
Barefoot in Central Park,
I laughed until
I collapsed.
You kissed my bruised knee
And made a wish.
A million flecks of stardust
Have streaked the sky
Since I saw you last, boarding
A plane to another life.
Sometimes, it takes more
Than gravity to keep
Two people
Together.
Now we are molecules
Colliding in a bed
Where vows lay dormant,
Dusty like the caverns of the dead.
My body a pendulum,
Your breath
Causing ripples
That will turn to waves.
I'm bracing for the devastation.
Iron Sharpens Iron
In a whirlwind of angst, confusion, and stupidity,
when nothing seems to be going anywhere,
and drugs are aplenty and alcohol is a status symbol,
I chose to look inwards.
To look at what would ultimately bring happiness.
Personality being flushed and camouflaged by toxins and poisons,
I chose to be me.
I gave up who I though I was,
who everyone thought I was.
And had very little left.
But I had myself.
And my beliefs.
And my new found morals.
I escaped a tumultuous time to transition into
a truer, yet tragically tamer, self.
Nonsense
I'm angry
But I keep it in a jar
Screw the lid on tight
And hope it doesn't escape
The world is mad
The country is doomed
People hate each other
Racism knows no colors
Men are emasculated
Women are men
Kids are confused
Half my town won't shop at Target
Trump and Hillary
What a joke
How can you even call Barak the first black man
He's mixed!
Who cares what color anyhow
Racists
That's who
It goes both ways
A lot of people do these days
Morals
What's that
Everything turns gray
