Let’s Break the Speakers
It's not really a genre - more of a shared characteristic. It's dark and heavy and LOUD, with a bass that reverberates throughout my body and gives me shivers.
It's haunting and drowning in accidentals and minor keys. Each note and word seem to dig into my brain and suddenly I can't think. My hips snap and my arms run down my body, breathing seems like both a sin and salvation. I can't get a enough of it.
It croons and I can't - won't - ignore it.
Good...
Stop.
Breathe in... Breathe out... In... And out...
Go and grab your marker or pen.
Have it? Okay, now draw a spiral on the palm of your hand. Take your time to draw it, you want to completely focus on it.
Done? Good... If you're still tensed, stare at the spiral. Let your eyes follow the ink. Repeat if your mood persists.
Calm now? Good.
It’s A Start
Oh! Um, hello?
I saw you here alone, so I thought maybe you could use some company...
Thanks! Excuse me, please... Oops! Sorry, that was my fault.
So, um, what brings you here?
... Well, I'm not sure "nothing" could've brought you here. I mean, it's so chilly here, especially since we're over water...
And if it matters to me?
I see...
Isn't the sky pretty tonight? It's so clear! I don't think I've ever seen it so pretty since I came to the city!
Yeah! It's like I can just reach out and hug the moon.
Well, not with that attitude! Anything's possible if you're stubborn enough!
... Ha! Well, that too I guess...
Brrrr! It's getting really cold. Want to get a coffee or something with me? It'll be on me, don't worry.
Here, let me help you get off there.
... And there we go! So tell me, what's you favorite animal?
Silence
There's a stillness in the air.
It's not unusual for an empty house, nor is the dust; but there is something different.
Silence.
It's midday in summer. The birds are too tired to chatter and the wind seems to have abandoned this place. There is nothing here.
Suddenly, time seems to have stopped and for a moment - just a moment - the world does too.
And suddenly, you feel alone. Agonizingly alone. And only the sound of your heartbeat keeps you sane.
There is no one - nothing - here.
I Hate Silence
If I had the power to read minds, I would sit at the corner of a road - maybe in a cafe - and just listen.
I would let the ocean of thoughts crash over me until it was merely white noise at the edge of my senses. I could tune in at my leisure, but the constant hum of each human mind would be ever present.
You could say that I hate silence.
