Ruined Heart
When I see you,
all I think about is
the way she might
hurt you, how you
might feel.
It breaks my heart.
I don't want you to
ever feel that way.
The small rips in a
Heart, only to all add
Up and leave only
Small remnants of a
Once wholesome
Soul.
You deserve better.
I think about how if
you loved me, we
would be different.
How I would cherish
you, make sure your
heart never hurt.
You've been through
more than anyone
should have to.
I want to wrap you in
my embrace and keep
you from harm.
I want to keep the sweet
shine in your eyes and the
color in your cheeks.
I want to see your smile,
and protect it.
But I can't.
You just go back to her.
To the heartache, drama
and trouble.
When you need me, when
she breaks you down,
I'll build you back up. Simply
because that's what I've
always wanted to do.
I'll always be here for you
No matter how much it might
Ruin me.
Not to be Cliche
What am I to say?
Not to be cliche,
But my mind raced.
The churning of my
Stomach distracted,
Your dimples, they
Brought me back
I started to jabber,
Talking of things that
Didn't matter, but
You went along, not
Missing a single beat.
Beat...
That's why my cheeks
Turned red, as palpitations
Got blood through
my veins.
You looked down and
Didn't quite catch me as
I sneaked a peek at you,
The way you leaned against
The desk carelessly, your
Cool confidence I adore.
You blinked, dark eyelashes
Meeting your cheeks like
The sea meets the shore.
Everything you do
Inspires me.
Inspires me to write,
Verses upon verses
Of cheesy poems.
Inspires me to paint
The way you make me
Feel. Reds, blues, all of it.
When the bell rang,
I cursed the school
District for its
Unrealistic lunch
Schedule. You
Waved goodbye.
I wanted to grab your
Hand to make you stop,
Explain that I'd rather
Sit in a boring math class
With you, than alone in
My favorite art class
Instead I waved back,
And went along.
All through the day,
I thought of you and
Your unconventional
Way of making me smile.
Wayfinder
With wind colder than her heart of stone,
She embarked.
They said the journey was too far,
No one could make it alone;
Over steep mountains down into valleys
Where not a soul had ever escaped.
She still embarked.
With stars leading her into the unknown,
Our heroine went on.
The walks were long, her legs were tired,
But she never gave up.
Days went by, what if they were right?
Would she make it?
Our heroine still went on.
But then, in the dark of the night,
She made it.
Illuminated by the constellations above,
There it was.
She found who she was supposed to be,
It was there before her.
She had made it.
You may ask, what did she find?
Why did she go where no one
believed she could?
Why was she so cold?
There is one answer for everything,
All of the questions you're silently asking.
Herself.
She found herself.
She went because she wanted to find herself.
She was so cold because she didn't know who she was.
Identity builds a person up as a child builds a tower,
It tears down the same way.
Everything is a matter of finding who you are,
And who you wish to become.
