cinderella
A father’s promise burned to ashes
Leaving to misery his little daughter
In the hands of her cold-hearted “family”
Her everlasting beauty brings jealousy to all,
Giving her chores to do all day
Denying her life essentials.
Day in, day out
Ella works in the toxic cinders
Creating her name Cinderella.
A ball held by the prince
Searching for a bride
Who, for some reason, isn’t royalty…
All are invited to attend
With fancy ball gowns and a ride
Yet again outcasting Cinderella.
A fairy godmother descends from heaven
Offering a pumpkin ride and beautified dress
With the curfew of midnight.
A shared dance with the prince interrupted by midnight's alarm,
Cinderella rushes home in a frenzy,
Leaving a slipper behind.
A lost glass slipper
Journeys with the prince to the owner-
The only girl in the village with that shoe size.
And the prince and princess marry and they all live happily ever after.
