Footsteps dashed at lightning speed down the staircase leading toward the living space. The little girl’s dreadlocks bounced back and forth as she jumped with glee.

Her Mom yawned and smiled at her child from the open kitchen area. She quickly whisked a bowl of eggs mixed with salt & black pepper. Then she turned around when she heard the toaster ding.

She placed the bowl of eggs on the table and grabbed the toast while it was still hot. From there she went back to frying the eggs which she had mixed with some milk, too.

Once the breakfast was ready she called Samera. There was no reply.

While her Mom had been busy getting their breakfast ready, Samera had come across an odd Christmas present that had some symbols on it.

The present was under the base of the Christmas tree. In a couple seconds it was gone and then it was near the fireplace.

She followed the gift and as soon as she placed her hand on it, the symbols began to scintillate. She gasped and a flash of light almost blinded her.

She covered her eyes and her whole body glowed right before she vanished right by the fireplace.

Her Mom panicked and opened the front door. She yelled, ‘‘Samera!’’ This was not over. She was going to search high and low for her child. But where in the world could she be?

Before her very eyes stood a woman with silver hair flowing down from the top of her head and a bit past her shoulders. She had some symbols and marks on her body that seemed to be getting brighter as Samera walked closer to the lady’s side.

She bent down to reach for the Christmas present and smiled warmly at Samera. Then she said, ‘‘Hello, there. Welcome to Reydelloh.’’

Samera blinked her eyes and stared around her. She spotted some beetles moving on the ground, but they were rolling bits of paper lying on the floor.

A little further away from them was a grand staircase that led to another floor of this strange and beautiful hall.

A glass chandelier that seemed to glow with a light as bright as the sun hang right below the staircase.

The elderly lady cleared her throat and laughed, ‘‘Welcome young one. I did wonder where my new experiment went to. Where are you from?’’

Samera opened her mouth to speak, but then a loud sound like a trumpet was heard.

She turned around and saw another being who was walking at a fast pace with a trumpet in his right hand. In his left, he had a note.

He then spoke in a hurry, ‘’My apologies for the quick and rushed entry, my lady.

‘‘Our sensors detected a breach. Something has entered our land. We are not sure what it is, yet—’’

She raised her hand and laughed, ‘‘I apologize for the slight panic, Tim. I found a way to get one of my new devices to work.’’

Tim sighed and shook his head. He took a deep breath, & bowed his head.

He heard a sneeze and said, ‘‘Bless you.’’

He looked down at the child and almost jumped out of fright. ‘‘Who are you?’’

‘‘Samera.’’

The lady with silver hair smiled and said, ‘‘Great to meet you, Samera. I am Lady Belin.’’

Samera bowed her head and smiled, too.

Tim squinted his eyes and handed the note to Lady Belin. ‘‘I will keep an eye on her, my lady.’’

Lady Belin shook her head, ‘‘That’s all right. I do not think she has any plans of taking over this land, Tim.’’

Samera laughed and said, ‘‘No. I would just like to head back home.’’

Lady Belin looked at Samera, and said, ‘‘Okay. We will figure out how to get you back home. While we do that, explore Reydelloh. Tim will be your tour guide.’’

Tim squinted his eyes, again. ‘‘All right. Let’s get exploring, Samera. We will take the butterfly hot air balloon and that way you get to see Reydelloh from the sky.’’

Samera tried to keep up with Tim. She could not wait to soar in the sky in the butterfly hot air balloon.
