If everyone had one characteristic, then I would definitely make it altruism. If everyone cared only for everyone else, and wanted the best for everyone else, then this world would be a much better place. Money and currency wouldn't exist, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia; none of those would exist. All prejudice would be wiped out because we only wanted what was best for those people.
