Moonlight drifts through the waves
undulating
shifting
as do the lockes of those around me
drifting in the current
like thousands of souls pulling together
one trailing behind the other
our procession drifts as well
like a sea serpent
coming up for air
but we are going down
down
down
like a kraken holds his prey
we are gripped by the pressuring grief of the sea
our careful voices raised in song
song of mourning
song of leave
song of the beauty that one was
but is no more
we know
that we cannot bring back what we gave up
and together
we release our Tear
each mermaid giving one
all grief encompassed in a drop of sea glass
and then, grief shedded, we return to the light of the sun
and we rejoice
and all is well again
