Through heartache and pain i grew

But it was the only reality i knew

Until I aged a little more

It was then

I began to understand the score

Confusion

Anger and resentment came

My heart, full of fissures

Began to break

But there in my shattered state

A voice through the darkness came

It was at that time

I began to rise

A new understanding

With a new mind

A new world

Through new eyes

I am above it

I am beyond it

I am triumphant

I've been tiptoeing around almost my entire life, afraid of causing controversy, and carting with me the vast stockpile of nightmares from my childhood.

So much baggage for so many years.

Is it any wonder then that finally I have found emotional release in the unlikeliest of places, a writing tool, so simple and so elegantly constructed as to allow the dam to gradually release the pressure crammed against it.

I am so used to walking on eggshells I shall most likely continue to do so, but without the luggage.

And that, my friends, is enough.
