Through New Eyes

Before the day that changed us forever,

Our bodies held with the

Recollections of what we will not mention

The days when we were sorry

The times we wish that we hadn’t done

The self-realization beating away at us

It all came back to us on that day

The night when we opened our eyes

The scene was pitch black

Only the beating of drums were to be heard

The questions that we heard that opened up our minds

The taps on our shoulder that gave us a new sense individually,

On who we are and what we have done

When we came upon the darkness of our eyes

We shed tears that cleansed them away

A set of New Eyes found in us all

To see each other in a way that we see each other now

It was a time for us to come together

Not just as friends

But brother and sister, hand to hand,

As a family.

Now we have a new realization,

Of what is going on

A new heart for friendship

A helping hand to others

A faithful mindset towards God

And a pair of New Eyes

That will lead and guide our lives for the best
